Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of experience in an analyst or data engineering role requiring data interrogation, analysis, and storytelling skills, paired with proficient stakeholder management
- Proficiency in handling complex datasets and preparing them at the right granularity in a robust way
- Conducting analysis to preemptively identify issues and surface actionable insights and recommendations to mitigate risk
- Expert level in LookML, Looker, or equivalent BI tools, is essential
- Expertise in data visualisation and using data insights to deliver actionable recommendations that drive business goals
- A builder's mindset with a willingness to question assumptions and challenge conventional wisdom
- Ability to communicate results clearly and concisely with a focus on driving measurable impact
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage project work and effectively prioritise projects to meet deadlines
- Proven experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver results
- Ability to connect the big picture to minute details, toggling between them to set and operationalize strategy
- Proficiency in SQL ( we use Google BigQuery) and any general purpose programming language such as Python or R (or equivalent)
- At least one year experience working with DBT (Data Build Tool)
- Strong understanding of Git workflows and version control best practices. Familiarity with advanced programming concepts, such as metaprogramming, is a plus
- Proficiency with the command line interface (Bash, ZSH, etc.)

- We’re looking for fintech enthusiasts to join us in creating the financial infrastructure of tomorrow
- We’re building the first European Investment API to enable any financial institution offering a wide range of efficient and transparent investment products, such as stocks and ETFs in nominal, portfolio, and fractional form
- At Upvest, you'll become an integral part of our Data Management community where Analysts, and Engineers collaborate to learn and grow together
- Moreover, our integrated organisational structure provides you with the opportunity to work closely across finance, product, engineering, finance, and operations areas
- Data Analysis and Insights: Dive into complex datasets to extract valuable insights and trends that drive data-informed decisions, ensuring our B2B offerings are optimised for success
- Client Data Analysis & Customised Reporting: You'll conduct in-depth analysis of client data to provide actionable insights and create custom reports and data visualisations tailored to our B2B clients' specific needs, enabling them to make informed decisions and gain a competitive edge
- Data Architecture and Tools: Collaborate on data architecture projects with a primary focus on achieving 100% data consistency. Utilise advanced tools such as DBT, BigQuery, and Looker, prioritising data quality and integrity in all data modelling and analysis tasks. This approach enhances our ability to meet client needs by ensuring consistent and reliable data
- Cross-Functional Impact: Collaborate with various teams, including developers and product managers, to seamlessly integrate your data-driven insights into our B2B products and services, driving continuous improvement
- Data Strategy Implementation and Product Enhancement: Play a pivotal role in executing our data strategy, ensuring that data-driven solutions are seamlessly integrated into our B2B offerings, and work to enhance our financial APIs and services based on data-driven insights that meet our clients' evolving needs. Additionally, actively support the initiative to transform our data into a standalone product, leveraging your analytical skills to develop valuable insights and features that can be marketed and sold to a wider audience, thus expanding our revenue streams and market presence

Our take
Upvest is a fintech startup that empowers financial services companies to provide their customers with access to a full range of financial assets, including stocks, ETFs and crypto products. Upvest's investment API integrates seamlessly with its customers existing systems and is designed to scale easily, freeing companies from the need to develop their own brokerage and custody infrastructure from scratch.
As one of the few companies in Germany that is licensed for both the custody of traditional securities and crypto, Upvest is able to provide its services across Europe. Its solution has been readily adopted by some major players in the space including Ginmon, Vivid and ABN AMRO.
Upvest is backed by a number of Europe's largest tech VCs (Earlybird, Notion Capital, Partech, HV Capital, ABN AMRO Ventures) alongside American investment monolith BlackRock. In 2023 it closed a VC investment round which the company has claimed is one of the largest in the German fintech arena. Its impressive capital raise will go some way to achieving Upvest's goals of profitability as it expands into the US market.
