Who you are
- We are looking for individuals who have worked across the stack on incredible products across consumer, enterprise, and various industries and who are excited about building the future of application layer and genAI products
- 3+ years (post-BS/MS) of backend-focused software engineering experience on product-centric teams
- Track record of building fast-growing SaaS products by leveraging PWA technologies
- Track record of shipping highly intuitive products, strong attention to detail
- Experience building backend platforms that can support multiple product lines
- Strong programming skills and general Computer Science knowledge
- Grit - experience working at early-stage startups is a plus
What the job involves
- As a Backend Software Engineer on the Product Engineering team at Harvey, you will own and lead engineering projects across our various product lines. You will work closely with our AI, Legal, and GTM teams to build secure systems that deliver value to our customers.
- Integrate traditional SaaS with AI Applications: develop end-to-end features touching all parts of the stack to enable AI workflow and tasks
- Zero-to-one product development: rapidly prototype, evaluate, and integrate new product features and custom projects for our customers
- Ship secure and compliant code: implement security concepts to develop software dealing with sensitive data, work with the security teams choosing what to build vs buy
- Develop new AI native workflows: implement streaming, long-running tasks, procedural UX, etc. for new AI tasks, finding the balance between state-of-the-art and pragmatism
- Growth and delivering customer value: Demonstrate an understanding of user behavior, funnels, marketing channels, and mobile to fuel creative design

Via natural language instructions, Harvey helps draft and analyze legal documents. It can also answer complex questions across large document sets, or even handle research queries that cover multiple domains in legal, regulatory and tax.
Its ability to support legal practitioners as if it's another member of the team is what makes Harvey particularly interesting. This approach has seen the company raise substantial funding, reaching Unicorn status in 2024. Funds will be used to expand to new geographies, grow headcount and further collect and curate data to train more “domain-specific” AI models.
