Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering or software engineering
- Strong experience working with GCP or AWS
- Experience with Kubernetes and/or Istio
- Experience with one or more scripting/programming languages, preferably Java/Python
- Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced and cross-functional environment
- Strong skills in troubleshooting issues in a highly distributed environment
Desirable
- Experience in the financial payments technology space
- Expertise in Cloud networking
- Experience with GCP technologies, such as Spanner, BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, etc
- Experience in building large-scale, distributed systems

- Our mission is to help merchants and businesses grow by accelerating their digital transformation with innovative virtual payment products
- Our infrastructure will be across multiple continents over the next few years to support the ever growing business needs
- The core infrastructure team owns the management of GCP, AWS, and various third party cloud services, including all of compute, storage, networking, container orchestration frameworks, and infrastructure pipeline
- You will work in a highly collaborative and fast-changing environment, and play a key role in elevating the organization in every aspect of security, stability, and performance of our services
- Collaborate with other teams to build an infrastructure as a platform that is secure, stable, cost-effective, and most importantly, empowers teams to iterate fast
- Building and maintaining our cloud infrastructure stack and CI/CD pipelines
- Design and implement monitoring and alerting for the infrastructure
Our take
Highnote is a provider of branded payment cards which can be used by customers or employees for a range of purposes, such as in-store shopping, loyalty scheme or corporate expenses. Traditionally the process of making and issuing these cards was onerous and expensive, effectively limited to only the largest brands. Highnote allows companies of any size to issue these kinds of cards quickly, and with a far wider range of financial products built in to suit the issuer's needs, such as buy-now-pay-later options or expense reporting which can be tracked centrally.
Founded by former BrainTree and PayPal executives, Highnote has attracted a significant level of funding. It is moving quickly to overtake other companies in this space, especially incumbent Marqeta. Having built a modern platform that takes advantage of the latest innovations in the fintech sector, Highnote is working to grow its market presence and futher develop its platform. Going forward it will continue to form strategic partnerships with firms such as Visa to allow it to issue a wider range of cards and support additional financial services for its customers.
