Role
Who you are
- We are seeking a product-oriented Backend Software Engineer who is eager to make a significant impact
- Our ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of backend system development, a strong sense of ownership, and thrives on challenges
- Experience: 3+ years in backend software development, preferably within a high-growth startup environment
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in programming languages and tools such as Python, React, React Native, AWS, Postgres, and JavaScript
- Problem-Solving: A knack for solving tough problems and a drive to take ownership of your work
- Communication: Effective communication skills with the ability to ship solutions quickly
- Product Focus: Excellent product instincts, with a user-first approach when designing technical solutions
- Team Player: A collaborative mindset that helps elevate the performance of those around you
- Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of the sports/trading card industry is a plus
What the job involves
- As an engineer in our team, you will be entrusted with substantial responsibility and autonomy, requiring good product instincts and the ability to deliver high-quality products rapidly
- You will have the opportunity to own products and features from end-to-end, so strong judgment and the ability to make effective trade-offs is essential
- Own the development and implementation of products and features, taking them from concept to deployment
- Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and prioritize tasks effectively
- Prioritize user needs and make informed trade-offs between speed, quality, and functionality
- Possess an ability to identify areas of highest impact and a willingness to dive in wherever your skills are needed most across the technical stack
- Identify and address technical challenges, ensuring optimal performance and scalability
- Perform detailed code reviews and provide technical mentorship to engineers

Increased interest in alternative assets has resulted in an unexpected boom in the collectables market as more people are seeking to diversify their asset portfolios. Alt is a trading and portfolio management platform capitalizing on this exciting new upswing, making it simple to buy and sell investment-grade trading cards.
Initially dealing exclusively with sports cards, the company’s platform has expanded to include other trading card types, ranging from Pokémon to Yu-Gi-Oh! Alt sets itself apart from the competition by offering its users a vast range of attractive options, from no buyer premiums, up to 60% cash advances on a card’s value, Alt Vault card storage, and borrowing options.
By tackling the three key problems hobbling the uptake of alternative asset investments (liquidity, price transparency, and physical storage) Alt’s success certainly opens the door for further expansion into different assets like art and sneakers, ushering in a new model for alternative asset markets.
