Who you are

  • This role is entrepreneurial and cross-functional and, as such, the candidate must be inquisitive, demonstrate initiative and be able to thrive in a fast paced environment
  • The right candidate will possess strong analytical and communication skills to influence data-driven business decisions. Comfort influencing and interacting at all levels of senior management (including VP, SVP and C-Suite) is a must
  • 6+ years of relevant progressive Finance or Strategy experience in a fast-paced and high growth environment, including investment banking, investing, corporate development, or consulting
  • Attention to detail with a natural feel for numbers and data; able to balance between accuracy and precision in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
  • Superior analytical and problem solving skills with experience building financial models and explaining financial concepts to non-finance audiences
  • Demonstrated time management skills and comfort juggling multiple projects/tasks with multiple stakeholders amid deadlines on time sensitive projects
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; Ability to influence and drive engagement with senior level business partners

What the job involves

  • Join our innovative Financial Planning & Strategy (FP&S) team to help execute financial strategies to support the company's growth objectives
  • We partner with business teams to inform and guide strategic decision making across Checkr
  • This role would be involved in supporting strategic projects to formulate, evaluate, and steer new investment opportunities, such as performing market research, supporting M&A activities, and creating internal executive reporting
  • Perform market research to help identify new investment trends and opportunities and own company's competitive intelligence
  • Help execute financial strategies to support growth objectives, including strategic and financial planning, and budgeting
  • Support on potential M&A and other strategic transactions, including sourcing, evaluation, negotiation, execution and integration
  • Create internal executive reporting including financial reporting, investor reporting and other management presentations
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to develop strategic initiatives that drive revenue growth, cost optimization, and operational efficiency, such as research for AI uses cases internally

Our take

Checkr addresses the unpleasant and time consuming process of background checks so that companies using on-demand employees can make safer, more informed hiring decisions in less time. Background checks are a critical part of the hiring process, and CEO Daniel Yannisse noticed that they were painfully slow, resulting in loss of work for candidates and productivity downturns for employers.

Before Checkr entered the market in 2014 with its innovative AI technology and a solid $50m in venture capital funding, companies were waiting upwards of two weeks for their checks. Checkr substantially reduces this time frame and has grown to receive a $5 billion valuation.

Checkr has accelerated growth by making several highly advantageous acquisitions of competitor companies GoodHire and Inflection. As the world of work embraces diversity and inclusion, the company announced an end-to-end service for candidates wishing to expunge their criminal records, furthering the company’s ‘fair chance’ mission and clearing 1000s of candidates for free since 2021. New products launched at the end of 2023 include Checkr Pay (providing access to payment right after a shift) and Checkr Onboard (unified onboarding processes), exemplifying how Checkr is keeping pace with a rapidly changing, flexible, and mobile-first workforce.
