Role
Who you are
- Write high-quality code. We mostly work in Python. However, languages can be learned: we care much more about your general engineering skill than knowledge of a particular language or framework
- Versatility. Experience across the entire spectrum of data engineering, including:
- Data stores (e.g., ClickHouse, ElasticSearch, Postgres, Redis, and Neo4j)
- Data pipeline and workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, DBT, Luigi, Azkaban, Storm)
- Data processing technologies and streaming workflows (e.g., Spark, Kafka, Flink)
- Deployment and monitoring infrastructure in public cloud platforms (e.g., Docker, Terraform, Kubernetes, Datadog)
- Loading, querying and transforming large data sets
- AI and ML Integration tools like MLflow, Feast, ONNX, Apache Beam
- You're comfortable working with noisy, dirty, and unstructured data to cleanse, scrape and convert it into structured data
- A high degree of initiative and ownership, combined with the ability to navigate ambiguity and adapt quickly to change
- Exceptional ability to structure problems and identify the most critical issues to prioritize
- Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences, verbally and in writing
- Experience working collaboratively in a cross-functional environment with a diverse group of people at all levels in an organization
- Passion for building a safer financial system for billions of people
- Interest in virtual currencies, applications, and their use in financial networks and blockchain analysis is a plus
What the job involves
- At TRM, we're on a mission to leverage AI and machine learning to build sophisticated intelligence solutions that provide unique insights and actionable data in the blockchain space
- As an MLOps Engineer, you will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of blockchain experts, data scientists, and software engineers to design, develop, and deploy AI-driven solutions that push the boundaries of what's possible in blockchain intelligence
- The MLOps Team has been established from the ground up, bringing together engineers dedicated to enabling data-driven AI and machine learning applications
- This role is ideal for someone passionate about innovation and eager to contribute to an emerging field, giving TRM a competitive edge in its next phase of innovation and growth
- Build and enhance AI/ML Model Performance
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability, leading to better model training and inferencing
- Build low latency high throughput pipelines to enable real-time AI applications
- Enable AI-powered insights for quick decision-making
- Integrate and evaluate new AI technologies, accelerating innovation
- Help optimize operational costs while adding value
- Collaborate with data science, engineering, and business teams to shift focus on model building instead of data wrangling by embedding AI models into applications and platforms
Our take
The crypto space has become more mainstream but it is also intensely volatile and poorly regulated, with a high degree of anonymity afforded to its users. As such it has become a major source of financial fraud with $20 billion in crypto stolen in 2022 alone. TRM Lab exists to return trust to the blockchain, helping banks, government agencies and crypto companies detect and combat fraud with its blockchain intelligence solutions.
As the risk of blockchain fraud is only increasing, with the proceeds often being used for organized crime, there are a number of companies working in this space. TRM stands out with the breadth of its crypto asset coverage and the strength of its cross-chain analytics. It has partnered with the FBI and Europol to aid its investigations, and is also used by major crypto companies MoonPay and Binance.
The company has grown its revenue by almost 500% year on year since its founding in 2018, and has recently raised a significant amount of capital in a Series B fundraising round. It is planning to use this money to further develop its product and hire additional talent. As businesses and government agencies increasingly come to grips with fraud in the crypto space, TRM is well poised to continue its rapid growth.
