Role
Who you are
- Have 5+ years of experience in an analytics with 3+ year of that experience in a team leadership role in a fast-paced technology company environment with proven experience building high-functioning data or analytics teams
- Understand financial and accounting metrics and forecasting, and a strategic mindset to provide actionable recommendations on how to develop our payments and ledgering systems
- Bring years of hands-on experience working with data at various levels from building and managing complex data pipelines and ETL processes, to developing data science models
- Are proficient across a range of industry tools (Snowflake, Fivetran, DBT, etc.) and query (SQL etc.) and business intelligence tools (Looker, Metabase) and ideally statistical analysis languages (Python, R, etc.)
- Lead with empathetic: you are eager to see the world from your users’ perspective
- Excel at simplifying data, be able to explain complex data stories to different stakeholders
- Are energized by ambiguity & a self-starter: you love to drive the direction of ambiguous projects
- Find meaning in the mission. We are working to solve the biggest problems in mental health care today: access and affordability
What the job involves
- Over the past year, we've made big strides in developing our data infrastructure around payments, and we are looking to build a world-class analytics team that can drive insights, analyses, and reporting around everything revenue, claims and payments related to help Headway reach its ambitious goals
- We're seeking a leader for that team as we execute our mission of making mental healthcare more accessible and affordable across the United States
- Reporting to Headway’s Head of Data, you will be responsible for partnering with finance, operations, engineering and product leaders with a shared focus on understanding and improving the financials of Headway and help drive strategy and improve execution by ensuring teams are making data-driven decisions, uncovering the insights and building the analytic models needed to fuel the company's growth
- You'll work closely with the rest of the Data and Data Engineering teams who are building the data infrastructure for Headway as a whole
- Partner with Finance and Operations leadership to develop an analytics roadmap and help build a rigorous culture of data-driven decision making including:
- Hire, inspire, and manage a growing team of data analysts
- Work with engineering to build and evolve our data infrastructure to surface key metrics through automated dashboards and regular reporting ensuring stakeholders and executive leadership are well-informed
- Serve as a thought leader, championing data-driven decision-making, analytics, and experimentation across the organization
Our take
1 in 4 US citizens are currently living with treatable mental health conditions, however, a vast majority of people are unable to access the care they need, the primary reason being cost. Headway connects clients with therapists who accept insurance as payment and provides independent practitioners with the tools and resources needed to serve their patients and manage administrative workloads.
Headway’s concept is timely, with national mental health under particular strain following events from the past few years. The company facilitates over 300,000 appointments per month and has attracted backing from the likes of Accel and Google Ventures.
Covering 16 states and the District of Columbia, the company intends to broaden its presence across the US using its 2023 Series C funding of $125 million. This is a crucial avenue for further growth, as medical care deserts across the US mean the potential market is vast.
