- You have 8+ years of demonstrable software development experience with a minimum of 2 years experience working with TypeScript
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- You’ve lead significant initiatives involving multiple developers
- Experience with streaming data pipelines and related tooling is a plus

- As a Senior Software Developer, you will be joining a world-class engineering team capable of delivering award-winning products at industry leading levels of speed and quality
- We are looking for a seasoned software developer capable of delivering significant impact directly and indirectly through peer mentorship
- You will be responsible for leading the design and implementation of critical systems
- You'll start off as an individual contributor, and we'll begin leadership coaching to prepare you for the opportunity to take on direct reports in future
- You could be building user-facing product features, designing new strategies for answering questions, implementing new data pipelines for bringing additional content into our system, designing new search algorithms, or extending our internal data-mesh infrastructure
- Challenging yourself to design, plan, and deliver new software products, capabilities, and features
- A substantial amount of coding while leading other developers to help you deliver mission critical projects in an iterative and incremental fashion, regularly unlocking customer value along the way
- Coaching developers in the craft of writing beautiful code covered by well written automated tests while nurturing the long-term health of the systems we work on
- Giving impactful feedback in an empathetic manner to those around you
- Helping elevate our engineering standards, tools, and practices

Our take
Blue J Legal’s AI powered platform was created by a team of law professors and data scientists with the aim of helping fellow legal professionals gain a better understanding of individual cases, more quickly than if they researched an entire case themselves.
Having initially focused solely on legal cases, Blue J also now applies its predictive AI software to tax law – a tool which has become popular amongst tax attorneys and accountants, not just for its speed but for its junior-training applications.
While there’s been huge growth in the use of AI in the legal industry, its outcomes have not been without flaw. Blue J claims 90% accuracy for its predictive software; however, there have been some cases documented across the whole industry where AI was biased against minority demographics.
The key thing for Blue J Legal moving forward is the accuracy of its software. If the company can maintain the very highest standards and maintain its AI’s integrity, it could become not just financially successful, but socially impactful.
