Who you are
- The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with a strong operational mindset and a proven track record of delivering results in a fast-paced, marketplace environment
- Experience: 10+ years of sales leadership experience, with at least 3 years managing large teams
- Operational Expertise: Strong background in sales operations, process improvement, and using data to drive decision-making
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with marketplaces or retail is a plus
- Collaboration Skills: Proven ability to work cross-functionally and build strong relationships with product, marketing, and other teams

- Analytical Skills: Proficiency with CRM systems (e.g., Hubspot) and sales analytics tools

- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, sales, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree is a plus
What the job involves
- Ghost is seeking a strategic SVP of Revenue to lead our sales organization and drive revenue growth
- As a member of the senior leadership team, this role will be responsible for overseeing a team of 35+ sales professionals, optimizing processes, and aligning efforts between the sales and product teams
- Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy that aligns with the company's overall business goals and objectives
- Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitor activities to identify growth opportunities
- Set long-term and short-term sales goals and ensure targets are met consistently
- Lead, mentor, and motivate a high-performing sales team
- Set clear performance expectations and provide regular feedback and coaching to ensure team success
- Recruit, hire, and train new sales staff as needed
- Create a positive, results-driven culture focused on teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Design and implement incentive plan to optimize performance
- Optimize sales processes, tools, and systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness
- Ensure the use of CRM systems (eg. Hubspot) to track sales activities, customer interactions, and pipeline management
- Monitor sales performance metrics and make adjustments as necessary to achieve goals
- Build and maintain relationships with key clients and partners
- Oversee the negotiation and closing of large or high-value deals
- Address client concerns and resolve issues to maintain long-term partnerships
- Track sales KPIs and provide regular reports to executive leadership
- Analyze data to identify trends, areas of improvement, and growth opportunities
- Use insights to adjust sales strategies and tactics
- Work closely with Product, Operations, Finance, and other teams to ensure alignment and maximize revenue generation
- Provide insights to Product based on customer feedback and market conditions
- Develop and manage the sales budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources
- Forecast sales performance, identify potential risks, and develop contingency plans as necessary
- Stay informed on industry trends, competitor activities, and market conditions
- Adjust sales strategies and tactics based on market intelligence to stay competitive
Our take
Excess inventory is one of the biggest pain points for modern retailers. Ghost solves this problem by making it easier for retailers to buy and sell excess inventory discreetly and sustainably.
With retailers wasting around $500 billion a year on excess inventory, demand for solutions like Ghost's is sky-high. The company has also made good on this demand, emerging from stealth mode in 2022 and about $38 million in funding to date. Ghost, which functions in much the same way as eBay, has benefited hugely from its founder's prior experience in the apparel industry.
Ghost's clear focus on sustainability and discretion has broad market appeal, especially for large-scale retailers looking to reduce waste and improve their public image. If Ghost can continue to attract such clients, it could scale at an impressive pace in the coming years.
