Role
Who you are
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 8+ years in a financial leadership position at a high growth software firm, investment banking, private equity, or similar training
- Exceptional financial modeling skills utilizing best practices around data management and dimensions
- Skilled with revenue, margin, and expense forecasting and modeling ideally with high growth software companies
- An expert in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets, staying current on new functions and ensuring adoption
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights in high impact presentations
- Strong business judgment including an ability to execute independently and cross-team collaborate with a remote team
- Experience in designing business systems around operational and financial planning

What the job involves
- The Sr. Director of FP&A role is a key position within the Overjet ecosystem
- This position will provide support to our key business stakeholders for financial planning and analysis
- Additionally, the role will work with cross functional teams to lead various projects related to budget planning, forecasting, and financial operations
- Lead, manage, and scale the finance function (team, system implementation, and process development) through periods of rapid growth
- Own all financial reporting, budgeting, financial analysis, risk management, and internal reporting to leadership and the Company’s Board of Directors
- Collaborate with key business stakeholders on company-wide strategic planning processes
- Evaluate financial and operational results to better understand company performance and identify opportunities in both revenue growth and expense management
- Benchmark financials, set realistic yet ambitious targets based on a deep understanding of the business, and drive the company toward needle-moving improvements in financial performance
- Encourage out-of-the-box thinking by challenging assumptions held across the company and identifying opportunities for faster, more effective execution aligned with Overjet’s goals
Our take
Overjet is a medical AI company that uses machine learning to analyze dental radiographs and uncover potential causes for concern in patients' oral health. Using data that quantify bone loss, tooth decay, and gum disease symptoms, the visually driven results help dentists and patients visualize their oral health status.
Whilst helping patients with their oral health is a lucrative business, dental insurance is in a whole different realm. In 2021, the dental insurance industry crossed the $80 billion threshold, and dental AI companies like Overjet have a large stake in this surge. Their AI tool, built and developed by Harvard dentistry graduates in 2018, is utilized by leading dental insurance companies in the US to help better value the type of insurance that their customers are eligible for.
This goes some way to explain how Overjet received Series A and B funding within just 4 months of each other in 2021. The dental industry may have been slow to embrace AI technology for practical healthcare purposes before Overjet and similar companies like Adra emerged, but the same products were quickly capitalized on by health insurance providers in the US. This double incentive for investors is a promising step forward for Overjet, which continues to forge partnerships with city and state-leading dental organizations and achieved impressive Series C funding in 2024.
