Role
Who you are
- Degree in mathematics, economics, statistics, computer science, physics, social sciences, or other quantitative discipline. A master's degree is preferred but not required
- 1-3 years of professional experience in data science and/or modeling
Desirable
- Technical understanding of machine learning, statistics, data science, and related fields
- Advanced user in several quantitative software tools, particularly Python, R, and/or SQL; willingness to learn new tools as needed
- Expert at wrangling data and conducting thorough data analyses
- Experience working with high dimensional data sets
- Pragmatic, team-oriented; builds rapport and respect
- Strong communication, writing, and critical thinking skills; attention to detail
What the job involves
- As a Principal Research Data Scientist at iSpot, you will serve as a thought leader and technical authority, driving innovation and shaping the future of TV measurement, attribution, and creative testing
- You’ll work on some of the most challenging and high-impact problems in the TV advertising analytics space, leading the design of advanced methodologies, overseeing complex modeling projects, and guiding cross-functional initiatives that push the boundaries of what is measurable in a constantly evolving marketing landscape
- The Research Data Science team partners closely with Product, Engineering, and Client teams to create scalable, scientifically rigorous solutions that power iSpot’s industry-leading audience measurement and attribution products
- Technical Leadership & Vision – Define and drive the research agenda for audience measurement, attribution, and creative assessment, ensuring methodological rigor and long-term scalability
- Model Development & Deployment – Architect, develop, and operationalize advanced statistical and machine learning models that deliver novel insights from massive, high-dimensional viewing and demographic datasets
- Innovation & Methodology Advancement – Introduce and evaluate cutting-edge data science techniques; publish or present findings internally and externally to strengthen iSpot’s industry reputation
- Cross-Functional Partnership – Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering leadership to translate business challenges into advanced analytical solutions, and ensure successful integration into production systems
- Mentorship & Standards – Serve as a mentor to other data scientists, elevating the technical bar across the team through code reviews, best practices, and peer development
- Strategic Problem-Solving – Provide guidance on data architecture and pipeline design in collaboration with Engineering to ensure analytical efficiency, scalability, and data quality
Our take
New streaming platforms and CTV provide novel data, with great potential to improve advertising engagement. However, information such as how many times an ad was aired and watched, whether viewers were captivated, and how relevant it is to their viewing preferences can still be difficult to access.
iSpot provides an ad measurement platform for TV, streaming platforms, and DSPs, allowing businesses to measure the success of their marketing campaigns in real time. The platform provides information such as brand recognition, purchase intent, likeability, and audience relevance, allowing businesses to benchmark this information against competitors.
Whilst other marketing platforms tackle similar obstacles, iSpot uniquely categorizes its data into insights that are easily understood and actioned. The company has ensured that its services are integrated with other 300 major streaming platforms and DSPs, futureproofing itself for the new wave of TV viewers, and in 2026 launched an agentic AI platform to augment its offering.
