What the job involves

As a Staff Engineer and the team’s Tech Lead, you are comfortable speaking with customers and users. You will advocate for the company’s product vision and user needs while collaborating with engineers to craft high-quality, scalable and strategically aligned solutions
Working closely with the Product Manager and Designer as part of the team’s Triad under the ShapeUp framework, you’ll take the lead in discovery, shaping bets and overseeing successful implementations
You’ll be the glue that holds the team together, fostering collaboration, inspiring your teammates, and ensuring great teamwork as you define the direction for frontend excellence, nurture internal mentorship, and drive technical innovation
Strategize and implement scalable, maintainable, and high-performance systems using React and Next.js
Mentor and guide engineers, promoting professional growth and technical mastery
Shape technical solutions that align with business goals, balancing innovation with scalability
Address complex technical challenges while contributing hands-on to code daily
Collaborate closely with Product Managers and Designers to create seamless, impactful user experiences
Partner with customers to understand their needs and translate insights into meaningful improvements

Our take

The market for price comparison sites continues to grow as the world has digitised globally, and it has a commonplace expectation to compare before you buy. The car comparison site in particular has flourished, becoming a popular avenue for finding insurance and vehicles alike, which is where AutoUncle steps in.

Plenty of competitors swamp the market, including gocompare and moneysupermarket. However, whilst other sites also hold space for buying and selling used cars, AutoUncle's dedication of their platform to used car trading on a global scale marks them out from the crowd.

Alongside a universal growing interest in greener lifestyle changes, the demand for used cars continues. Although the EV market is getting more attention, if AutoUncle can keep their cars affordable, they should be in a good position moving forward.
