Who you are
- Entrepreneurial Drive: Entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to think creatively in a dynamic startup environment, recognize opportunities and change strategies as needed
- Experience: Proven track record in building world-class products in product-first companies before, ideally B2B Marketplaces as Product Manager. Previous experience as a Software Developer or Product Designer is a strong advantage
- Product Development: Experience in rapid prototyping, UI/UX design, backlog management, user story formulation, quality assurance and release planning
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead and motivate cross-functional tech teams while fostering a culture of innovation, ownership and performance
- Ownership & Autonomy: Strong sense of ownership, autonomy, and a continuous learning mindset
- Communication: Excellent communication skills in English to make technical concepts understandable to non-technical stakeholders and foster collaboration between teams.Passion for Learning: Eagerness to stay updated with current research in technology and AI
What the job involves
- This position is based full-time in our vibrant Berlin office. We believe that working together in a dynamic office setting fosters collaboration and accelerates the growth of our ambitious startup
- Co-develop a data-centric product vision and roadmap in close coordination with Product Leadership and our Founder team that aligns with business priorities and customer needs
- Work with a cross-functional team of Software Engineers, Data Scientists and Designers to bring the product vision to life, ensuring effective use of resources to maximize output
- Prioritize initiatives and features with the leadership team based on their potential impact on business goals, leveraging both qualitative and quantitative insights
- Embrace a "don't make the wheel again" mindset, comparing third-party integrations with own software development to enhance product functionality and to meet evolving needs
- Drive the development of rapid prototypes and MVPs in close collaboration with customers and customer-facing teams
- Own product pipelines and maintain a high velocity of product development, based on a strong understanding of user needs, great product intuition and rigorous analytics
- Define and track key performance metrics, analyze product performance and user engagement to drive continuous improvement
Our take
Vanilla Steel’s online marketplace makes it easier for companies to buy and sell excess steel across the EU. By connecting producers to buyers at regular auctions, both parties are able to cut down on negotiation time and administration while helping address industry-wide issues such as overproduction, excess capacity and slow-moving inventory.
The company's co-founders have previous industry experience at global leader Thyssenkrupp, where they met and conceptualized the idea for Vanilla Steel. As Europe’s only current independent digital platform solely for steel, the company has already carved out a solid market niche and built a client base sapnning more than 50 countries.
Vanilla Steel has been backed by June Fund as well as Seedcamp and Mustard Seed Maz. It is looking to connect with even more suppliers, and to bring additional digital solutions to a traditionally analogue industry.
