Who you are

Have 5+ years of design experience, working on online applications with real-world users
Are able to provide samples of work that show complex and creative UX solutions, strong visual design, and solid information architecture
Have experience working collaboratively with product, engineering, and creative teams throughout the product development life-cycle to iterate on and deliver a user experience that is of the highest standard
Love communicating complex design solutions across uses cases by creating process flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high fidelity mock-ups
Are detail-oriented and self-motivated with a passion for consistency, organization, usability, and discoverability
Have a positive attitude, a sense of humor, and a desire to build accessible products for all users
Are a fluent English speaker and writer with excellent communication skills, to be able to set clear goals, and bring people along to them

What the job involves

We’re looking for an experienced Product Designer to drive the end-to-end design process for the entire Thingtesting web experience. You’ll be the first full-time product designer on the team
You have a history of shipping beautiful, thoughtful digital products to real users: from conducting user research, UX and visual design, building prototypes, and overseeing their pixel-perfect execution all the way to production
You are passionate about your craft, love the journey of discovery through iteration, and have relentlessly high standards. You translate ambiguous user needs through qualitative & quantitative data into simple, intuitive, and beautiful user experiences
You are a strong communicator with the ability to defend your designs to a broad audience while internalizing and responding to feedback. We’re looking for a senior team member that will work collaboratively with the rest of our team

Application process

1. A 1:1 with Jenny, Founder of Thingtesting - a chat about you, the role, your background, and Thingtesting
2. A high-level 1 hour at-home design exercise & then debrief - an exercise meant to evaluate your design process and an opportunity for you to meet more of the Thingtesting Product team at the debrief
3. A portfolio review and a problem-solving exercise - an opportunity for you to showcase more of your work and meet more team members at Thingtesting, followed by a short design exercise with Damien, our CTO

Our take

Due to the rise of online brands and paid influencers, it has become increasingly difficult to differentiate between brands and get a good sense of quality and value. Thingtesting aims to solve this problem by creating a simple solution: a directory of the best internet-born brands.

Gyllander, the founder, started Thingtesting as a side project while working at a VC company. After launching on Instagram, the account became increasingly popular among users, accumulating more than 57,000 followers and reviewing 100s of products. Realising there was demand for a trustworthy resource to make more informed purchase decisions, Thingtesting was reborn as a D2C platform that could build more transparency into the internet brand space.

The company aims to continue building out its review platform and powering its international growth. As such, Thingtesting aims to become the go-to place to talk honestly about new things.
