The New Ad Formats team is seeking a skilled Android engineer with a product-focused mindset to join the New Ad Formats team
Expertise in Android engineering with at least 4 years of experience
Proficient in the Kotlin programming language
Strong software engineering fundamentals
A willingness to tackle the challenges of creating data-intensive, highly responsive, and fault-tolerant apps within the constraints of a smartphone environment
An openness to explore innovative approaches to software development
Skilled at performing insightful code reviews, and receiving feedback themself

What the job involves

Build Ad experiences and create patterns for Reddit’s Android app that enhance our ads’ performance and functionality
Collaborate across product, design, and engineering teams to innovate and implement sophisticated solutions for complex challenges
Engage in the full development cycle: design, develop, QA, experiment, analyze, and deploy
Languages: Kotlin, Go, Python
Frameworks: Jetpack Compose, Dagger/Anvil, Thrift, gRPC
Datastores: Room, Postgres, DynamoDB, BigQuery
Tools: Firebase Crashlytics, Develocity, Bitrise, Kubernetes, Argo, Docker

Reddit is a website that facilitates thousands of message board communities, known as subreddits, with an aim to promote authentic human connection. There are more than 100,000 communities on Reddit, covering everything, from food, entertainment, sports, and books, to more niche topics that cater for very specific audiences.

The simple platform is used by more than 52 million people a day and attracts over 50 billion monthly views. While these are impressive numbers, they do pale in comparison with social media giants Facebook and Twitter, however, Reddit distinguishes itself by providing easy-to-find communities for a truly endless range of topics.

Reddit makes money through advertising as well as offering a premium ad-free membership plan. The company has enjoyed continuous user & revenue growth, acquisitions by Conde Nast in 2006 and Advance in 2011, and plans to launch an IPO bid in 2024.
