Role
Who you are
- You love code — you’re a pro at building roadmaps and design docs, but you don’t like stopping there
- You’re incredibly proud of the code you write and review, and like staying close to the systems you own
- 8+ years experience developing and maintaining complex web applications or web SDKs
- Previous experience building and maintaining mobile applications or a willingness to learn mobile development
- 1+ years experience managing a team and working with cross-functional stakeholders to maintain a team roadmap
What the job involves
- Stytch’s client-side SDKs help developers unlock Stytch’s value quickly & easily
- As the Tech Lead Manager of Frontend SDKs, you’ll be working on the Frontend SDKs team to increase Stytch’s value while delivering great end user auth experience
- Ownership – you are excited about developing and advocating for the best features and roadmaps on our Fronted SDKs
- You have a vision for the systems your team works on, but know how to build incremental milestones, and when to make trade-offs between completeness and utility to get to value fast
- Shaping the culture and growing the team through recruiting, mentorship, establishing best practices, and empowering engineers on your team
- Building products that make developer’s lives easier — you’re excited to make our systems easy to use and safe for internal developers, as well as the impact your work will have on Stytch’s customers
- Partnering with your team and cross-functional peers to craft strategy and a roadmap that accomplishes our ambitious company goals
- Fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and high performing team culture
- Learning new skills and technologies in a fast paced environment
- Development — provide guidance and mentorship to develop the engineers on your team into future engineering leaders
- Ownership — build team processes and culture to drive execution

- Go for backend services
- Node and Typescript for our web services
- React/Preact, Typescript, Next.js on the front end
- Swift for our iOS SDK and Kotlin for the Android SDK
- We run on AWS with Kubernetes for containerization
- We utilize Github Actions, Flux, ArgoCD for our CI/CD
- GRPC and protobufs for internal service communication
Our take
Passwords don’t typically offer the levels of security they once did, and we need more of them than ever - leading to poor security practices and a huge volume of subsequent data breaches. Some startups have emerged to help manage them; Stytch, however, is part of a growing cohort looking to cut them out entirely.
The idea is to make navigating digital space frictionless. To this end, Stytch has developed an out-of-the-box, easy-to-deploy version of about a dozen passwordless authentication solutions. It has seen a sharper increase in users and funding than rival startups like Magic, which it puts down to an API-first product, which is less limiting in its application than the widgets we’ve seen developed by earlier entrants to the space.
That alone, however, won’t be enough to push it ahead of other highly successful innovators in the space. Transmit Security has received record-breaking backing for its biometrics-led approach. This goes to show how far the market is betting on a passwordless future, and whilst Stytch’s line of attack is successful, it will nevertheless need to remain sharp in its development of new solutions.
