Role
Who you are
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field
- 6+ years of hands-on experience building and deploying scalable, cloud-native applications using Node.js, React, and Typescript on Kubernetes. Deep understanding of GraphQL API design, microservices architecture, and MongoDB
- 1+ years of experience directly managing and mentoring a team of software engineers, including performance reviews, coaching, and conflict resolution
- Proven experience leading and mentoring engineering teams, including performance management, coaching, and conflict resolution
- Strong architectural skills, with experience designing and implementing scalable, resilient, and secure systems
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience with Agile development methodologies and CI/CD pipelines
Desirable
- Experience optimizing booking flows and conversion rates in a marketplace environment
- Experience with GCP
- Knowledge of and experience with Cloudflare
- Experience with A/B testing and data-driven decision-making

- Lead and mentor a team of 4 engineers, creating psychological safety, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning
- Own the technical vision and roadmap for the Bookings team, driving innovation and ensuring alignment with business objectives and architectural best practices
- Champion code quality, testing, and automation, proactively identifying and resolving technical debt
- Collaborate with the team’s product manager, designer, QA Analyst, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into innovative technical solutions
- Spearhead the evaluation and adoption of new technologies, frameworks, and tools to improve team efficiency and product capabilities
- Shape the architecture and technology strategy for our core Bookings platform, directly impacting the experience of thousands of renters and property owners. Lead a team that's pushing the boundaries of innovation in the mid-term rental market
Our take
The rise of technology for remote working, alongside the number of companies offering the set-up as an employment perk, has seen a marked increase in the number of digital nomads spending extended amounts of time working from abroad. As a result, the market for for mid- to long-term lets is growing, with demand anticipated to continue rising over the coming years. Proptech company Wunderflats is taking advantage of this trend.
Wunderflats has a broad scope; covering company travel arrangements, lettings for families & students, and a full furnishing and property management service. With operations beginning in Germany, the company found a lucrative testing ground that enabled it to showcase the popularity of its service, which in turn enabled it to secure growth funding. With this, it has brought its offering to 6 German cities, as well as beginning European expansion with Paris.
Germany has one of the largest rental markets in the EU, in addition to being one of the more popular destinations for digital nomads, which definitely contributed to Wunderflats gaining an edge over other hospitality providers. As the company brings its product to other EU markets, it will be interesting to watch how it effectively handles expansion and adaption to the demands of other countries and their consumers.
