Role
Who you are
- 7+ years of product management experience in a fast-paced environment with a preference for experience at the intersection of hardware and software
- Deep experience in mobile/contactless payments, access and identity a plus
- A strong track record in developing novel human interactions, inputs, and/or platform capabilities
- Technical fluency and the instinctive ability to be the voice of the consumer
- Successful track record of working closely with design and engineering teams during the full product lifecycle, including research, discovery, development, and launch
- Passion for leveraging technology to enhance user experience and improve quality of life
- Ability to think strategically, execute efficiently, and learn quickly from experimentation
- Have established technical partnerships and can direct and drive outcomes through these partnerships
What the job involves
- We are looking for someone to join our hardware product team that is passionate about taking our next generation rings to the next level
- As a Senior Product Manager, Ring Software, you will lead the vision, product strategy, and development of innovative new ring interactions and capabilities that seamlessly integrate into the ecosystem
- Own and drive the product strategy, roadmap, discovery and development of new ring interactions and platform capabilities
- Lead cross-functional teams, including hardware engineering, software engineering, design, and product marketing, through the entire product lifecycle, managing product requirements and the voice of the customer from concept to launch
- Partner closely with the Commercial team to identify and collaborate with key strategic partners to bring new platform capabilities to market
- Negotiate and influence product trade-offs impacting schedule and usability to improve user experience and consumer differentiation
- Inform and influence the hardware roadmap to enable new and innovative capabilities
- Develop a compelling product narrative and vision that drives clarity and alignment across the team and leadership
- Oura employees in other major cities (like Boston and New York) occasionally gather informally at local co-working locations
Our take
As smart watches with health and wellbeing monitoring functions are now an everyday norm, Oura is offering similar wearable technology with its series of rings. It’s one of a number of companies gaining serious traction in the market, along with the likes of Circular and Movano.
The company gained an early profile after its collaboration with Gucci which created mainstream publicity and may have given it a leg up on the competition. With the smart ring market forecast to keep growing, Oura certainly finds itself in a promising position as it moves to build out its operations and refine the product.
The bottom line for Oura will be customer satisfaction and demand, which does make its mixed reviews so far a little troubling. That said, the announcement of its new "Circles" social feature, on top of an integration with InsideTracker and acquisition of "wave to pay" company Proxy, all look set to increase the functionality of the ring and could well win more consumers over.
