What the job involves

Headway is looking for a Senior Data Engineering Manager to help us get closer to executing our mission: to create access to affordable, quality mental healthcare across the United States. Data plays a critical role in Headway’s mission by empowering business decisions and operations at scale
The data engineering team builds the platform on which we process financial data and make business decisions. The data engineering team is partnered with most of the teams across Headway including the finance team, insurance systems team, data analytics, product and data science teams
As the Data Engineering Manager at Headway, you will work closely with the Head of Data to help shape the future of the data organization. You’ll grow and lead our Data Platform team and build out our next generation of data platform systems
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate, mission-aligned engineering leader to make an immediate impact on our rapidly scaling engineering and product team
Lead and manage a team of 5+ engineers with headcount for growth
Help plan and build our next generation data platform systems with an eye toward scalability and stability
Work directly with business, finance, and product stakeholders to roadmap and align projects
Develop and grow your team through weekly 1-1s, mentorship, and feedback
Work with and help develop aspiring engineering leaders within the engineering team
Contribute to the broader company strategy and product roadmap

Headway connects clients with therapists who accept insurance as payment and provides independent practitioners with the tools and resources needed to serve their patients and manage administrative workloads.

Headway’s concept is timely, with national mental health under particular strain following events from the past few years. The company facilitates over 300,000 appointments per month and has attracted backing from the likes of Accel and Google Ventures.

Covering 16 states and the District of Columbia, the company intends to broaden its presence across the US using its 2023 Series C funding of $125 million. This is a crucial avenue for further growth, as medical care deserts across the US mean the potential market is vast.
