Role
Who you are
- You have 7+ years of experience with a proven track record of product thinking, visual design, and interaction design for consumer-facing products
- You have a strong portfolio of relevant design work that conveys your ability to ship and focus on outcomes
- You have a bias towards action and a curiosity-driven approach to solving problems in a fast-paced, and often ambiguous environment
- You have a passion for music and are as excited as we are to design the future of music
What the job involves
- As a Staff Product Designer, you'll work directly with artists and listeners to build an intuitive and delightful experience for our users
- You'll design, build, and maintain our suite of tools for artists and their communities, all while setting a high bar for design thinking, quality, and systems
- You will champion the end-to-end user experience and own all aspects of design strategy, visual design, and interaction design
- You will establish design best practices and consistently apply them to how we execute on our roadmap
- You will design and iterate on prototypes while incorporating feedback from artists/collectors and technical requirements from the engineering team
- You will create the foundations of our design systems and work closely with our product and engineering teams to constantly improve the user experience
- You will conduct user research interviews and usability testing sessions
- You will help to create a world-class design culture with an extremely high-bar for quality
Our take
After the 2014 Taylor Swift Spotify scandal, the uproar for artist support and the fact that music shouldn’t be free created quite a stir. Sound is driven by the desire to connect listeners to their favorite artists and directly support them through Web 3.0 tools - the outcome being artists making a full-time living off their music alone.
As well as the support to help the music industry monetize assets, Sound is also an amazing space for fans to have access to listening parties, gain exclusive access to music drops and purchase song NFTs, entering the customers into interactive communities.
Sound’s vision for the future is ambitious - “we want to honour the value of music by giving a million artists the opportunity to live off their art”. NFT platforms can often be hard to connect to, but the human passion and message underlying the company's drive is super appealing and attractive.
The idea has proved so appealing, in fact, that Sound has raised remarkable funding - the latest round of which included participants such as VC firm Andreessen Horowitz and big industry names like Snoop Dogg. The company will use this funding to expand its artist relations, engineering and marketing teams, as it opens up its platform to the public.
