Who you are
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Finance role
- Fluent in German and excellent German writing ability
- Good Excel skills
- AAT qualification is an advantage
- Good communication skills
- Efficient with high level of attention to detail
- Proven ability to work under pressure and to stringent deadlines
- Proactive approach and ability to problem solve
- Ability to prioritise workload with good organisational skills and a flexible approach
What the job involves
- Customer Relationship Management - Working with the Austrian and German Call Centres and sometimes with customers directly in a knowledgeable and professional manner. Ensuring customers are dealt with sensitively due to the nature of the potential issues. Ensuring all communication is professional, accurate and effective. Answering queries from the Debt Collection agency
- Invoicing, Payments, and Returns - Processing and matching payments on Austrian Debtor Accounts. Investigate any that have not been matched successfully. Processing customer refunds for DE and AT markets. Responsible for sending dunning reminders. Investigation of items in the suspense account
- Reporting - Providing weekly/ monthly KPI statistics on the Austrian and German markets. Review of Ageing reports. Reconciliation of reports and investigate errors. Actively be aware of balances due. Chasing balances to prevent them from becoming overdue/ bad debt
- Query Resolution - Dealing with both internal and external customers to resolve queries relating to payment matching, returns, offers and debt collection
- General Assistance - Helping the wider team with cash tracker completion, audit samples etc as needed

As a result, in the past few years, Boden has heavily invested in modernising its IT systems and created a new way to capture data online. Having adapted to changing consumer behaviours, now 95% of its sales occur online, enabling it to compete with the growing number of e-commerce competitors like ME + EM and Mint Velvet.
This new digital approach has not been Boden's only success in recent years. Traditionally, many UK retailers have failed to gain a foothold in the US. However, the company’s quintessential British branding has successfully set it apart, leading to Boden’s US sales already overtaking those in the UK, and the business continues to grow faster there.
Moving forward, Boden is overcoming a 2023 dip in sales triggered by an unneeded menswear revamp that lost sight of its core customer base. It is now reverting back to its classic formula and is planning on further expansion in the US, determined to double sales in the next few years.
