Who you are

Front-end or full-stack skills with experience building web apps and strong proficiency in React
Recent experience building pipelines and insights dashboards to transform and extract value
Strong proficiency in data visualisation and experience using reporting tools (Tableau, Matplotlib, Python, Looker Studio or equivalent)
Proficiency using Python, JavaScript, or other programming language for data science, API development, and web development

Desirable

Proficient in statistical methodologies and analytical strategies for smaller datasets, ensuring optimal data quality and significance of results
Recent experience dealing with large amounts of batch and real-time data
Strong experience with GCP products, particularly with BigQuery as a data warehouse tool, Firestore as a web development backend, serverless Cloud Functions, API development, CI/CD pipelines using Cloud Run, Cloud Build, and Docker.
Data Modelling experience for storing big data in a data warehouse (BigQuery) and organising web data in an accessible format in Firestore
Experience with handling physical sensor data, or a willingness to learn
Experience working with automated testing, CI/CD, or ETL pipelines

What the job involves

Optimise, scale and build new features for our web app, an analytics Dashboard
Analyse time series (sensor) data, identify patterns and create visualisations to build internal learning tools and real-time client dashboards
Apply your curious and data-driven mindset and work with the team to extract insights from our sensor data through data transformation pipelines and data visualisations
Modernise and automate existing data models and leverage our cloud-native data infrastructure (e.g. BigQuery, Looker) to improve our data visualisation capabilities

With £12.5 billion worth of food thrown away each year because it’s reached its shelf life, BlakBear’s flagship product can scan and measure food to check if it’s truly out of date.

These “paper-based electrical gas sensors” can pick up spoilage gases such as ammonia and trimethylamine in meat-based products and can be read by smartphones so as to avoid throwing away perfectly good food.
