Our take
Governmental bodies work in regulated processes that are often difficult to adapt to the rapid and ever-evolving technology space. Helsing was founded to protect democracies and aims to bridge this gap by finding solutions to a variety of problems before they become apparent.
Helsing is designing technology products that transform the operational capabilities of both new and existing defense platforms. The software works for thermal imaging, sensor information, camera work, and more, and often implements innovations in artificial intelligence to elevate this hardware. National security is paramount to the company, generating live scenario imaging that allows for much more efficient responses.
An investment of $100M from the CEO of Spotify, Daniel Ek, formed a significant part of the company's funding in late 2021. The funding allows the company to expand its team and rapidly scale up its product and delivery developments. However, the investment has been met with dissent from many members of the public, particularly Spotify users. Those who oppose such an investment are strongly opposed to the use of funds for such a heavily military-based company, so Helsing will have to carefully navigate this publicity.
