Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of experience in data automation, infrastructure and architecture
- Experience in software engineering, with extensive system design experience
- Consolidated experience building data oriented applications, and especially analytics solutions, translating business needs into data models and solution design
- Knowledge of modern application development, as well as the new developments in the Modern Data Stack, and understanding of their benefits and shortcomings (from event driven to dbt)
- Proficiency in modelling data and used to deploying production-standard code
- Recognised by your colleagues as being excellent at your job and someone that people want to work with
- Experience leading a team of Data Platform/Cloud Engineers or similar
- Experience being part of a high-growth startup or tech company
- Curious and passionate about your work
- Clear communication (in English) and ability to work well with others in a distributed team
What the job involves
- You will have the opportunity to design and build the data platform that enables the flexible and performant data oriented capabilities that our teams will need to build a delightful product
- You will be part of a small tech team (<10 to begin with) building the MVP of our product alongside our Data Science team
- Our team is building web-based user interfaces to multiple data products based on financial and accounting data from source through to myriad representations of the data: from board reports to statutory accounts, from forecasting to benchmarking
- You will be building a reliably scalable data platform which forms the backbone of our applications, as well as supports data science development
- You will have the opportunity to contribute to decisions around architecture, toolset, cloud infrastructure, front end components, and internal/externally-facing APIs
- Join the founding product/engineering team of an exciting new data/no-code startup, with funding in place, and validated customer demand
- Translucent is taking advantage of the latest data tools & techniques to build a next generation accounting system. As such the Data Platform will be at the very heart of the company and the product
- Design and build the underlying fabric and automation of the Translucent data platform for financial and accounting data products
- Be part of the team who are building data pipelines to feed our ensemble of data products
- Collaborate with a high-performing, experienced team who've founded, built and exited startups. You'd be a valued peer alongside data engineering, data science, design, product and software engineering team members

Tranlucent's platform consolidates data from its clients' existing accounting solutions to create a single system of record. Its app suite, which is built atop the platform, then enables finance teams to search, report, and analyse this data - with additional capabilities including live sheets and automated multi-entity reconciliations.
With every business needing accounting software, the opportunity here is huge. Translucent has already secured funding, landed some impressive individuals and is looking for top performers to fill out the team. It intends to use funds to accelerate growth, as well as expand operations and its business reach.
