- Experience with running/managing systems and services on a cloud platform
- Experience deploying cloud services, monitoring, alerting, and handling critical issues
Desirable
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator or Application Developer (CKA, CKAD)
- Full software development lifecycle experience
- Experience with Cloud-based security protocols
What the job involves
- As a Sr. Cloud Engineer you will have a pivotal role in building and maintaining our cloud systems, porting our operations from bare metal to the cloud, and, after the move is complete, continually optimizing the operations of the systems
- Some of our key tenets are low latency, high performance, sane architecture, observable systems, operational maturity, and a blameless culture of learning and improvement
- Cloud engineering includes deployment pipelines, software configuration management, infrastructure configuration management, containerization frameworks, monitoring, and performance engineering
- Helping move a large (100B+ requests daily, petabyte-scale) application from bare metal to the cloud
- Preserving and improving our low-latency, cost-efficient performance across the move
- After the move is complete, optimizing for observability and efficiency
- Driving the maturity of our load balancing strategy via a design/test/measure/iterate workflow
- Advocating for best practices for container management and tools
- Contributing to the evolution of cloud native practices, guidelines, patterns, and standards
- Providing technical and architectural/vision alignment guidance and mentorship to other team members
Our take
The monetization of online content creation can be very lucrative but requires time, resources and expertise outside of writing. Passionate writers who focus on storytelling and creating inspiring content may waste valuable time attempting to develop their business, and hiring somebody to do this is often too expensive for independent writers.
Sovrn tackles this in a smart way by providing writers with simple-to-use tools that take the stress out of monetization. It works with publishers and advertisers to provide opportunities to passionate writers, allowing them to focus on excelling at their job rather than dealing with distribution, monetization and operations - all of which Sovrn is able to handle.
The startup claims to be able to drive higher revenues and scale a publishing business, at the same time as allowing writers to focus on what they do best. It has seen significant investment that will enable it to pursue acquisitions and support the further expansion of its platform with more capabilities to be added in the future.
