What the job involves
- Work closely with CRO/COO to lead and execute strategic initiatives
- Collaborate across teams to communicate strategic plans with internal stakeholders and adjust priorities according to feedback and company objectives
- Develop and monitor key success metrics and operational processes to mature the state of the business
- Support the CRO/COO in defining annual and quarterly business goals across the company
- Plan and facilitate leadership meetings (weekly, quarterly offsites)
- Develop & refine Spot’s Operating System, the key tools, framework and processes across the business; including the establishment of key shared services that reduce touchpoints and friction
- Ensure that initiatives remain aligned to the set priorities and OKRs
- Define, implement and review policies and guidelines for the company for optimization, looking for continuous improvement while balancing right-sized processes
- Project manage critical initiatives and serve as the primary point of contact to drive cross-functional and organizational alignment
- Drive innovative process improvements through identifying gaps or opportunities, designing proposed changes, and developing processes to drive business efficiencies
Our take
Affordable healthcare continues to be a major problem in the US; roughly 30 million people go without comprehensive healthcare and have high medical costs, causing many to go into debt. Spot is tackling this with a digital, on-demand injury insurance product that can be used as-is, or as a complement to traditional health insurance.
It provides customized injury insurance policies directly to consumers, or through strategic partnerships with companies and organizations. It has over a dozen partners in the extreme sports industry, including USA Cycling, Powder Mountain, USA BMX, National Ski Patrol, and athleteReg, and covers tens of thousands of people. Spot grew 800% in policies and 300% in partnerships from 2021-2022.
The company's direct-to-consumer policies are already available in 42 states, and its business-to-employee coverage is nationwide. Its recent funding is being used to hire across all areas of the company, go after new partnerships, and develop a go-to-market strategy. The company has enjoyed several rounds of investment which is boosting its product expansion.
