- Kotlin Multiplatform, Compose Multiplatform, Swift, and Python. Other areas of our engineering stack include Java, AWS (Cognito, API Gateway, Lambda, DynamoDB, Cloudwatch, EventBridge), Snowflake, DBT, React, Java services, and Github Actions. We also leverage numerous AI tools, including OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, and Github Copilot
- Seasoned technical leader with a propensity for improving quality and observability
- Passionate about building buttery smooth user experiences that drive measurable business value
- Analytical mindset with a knack for experimenting, learning, iterating, and growing
- Advanced debugging skills to see user data, build hypotheses of what that data means, and make meaningful improvements
- A proven ability to apply generative AI across the SDLC (from ideation and design to coding, testing, and release) to boost velocity and quality
What the job involves
- Help cultivate a collaborative and safe environment. You can speak up to name problems, which will invite conversations that will then drive solutions
- Learn and innovate on the ways we can improve our system. You are able to hone in on gaps in quality, security, performance, and speed of execution and generate buy-in to raise those bars
- Partner deeply with cross functional teams. Whether it’s aligning with marketing on experimentation, enabling better personalization with data science, or integrating feedback from designers, you are proactive in surfacing insights and turning them into technical action
- Drive quality through documentation. You record your decisions, communicate tradeoffs, and ensure others can build upon your work
- Set clear expectations on delivery. We all understand that plans change. You focus on setting an accurate and achievable goal from the start, and then keeping close alignment with key partners when milestones shift
Our take
Loyalty systems, vouchers, and other special offers have a proven track record at winning over new customers for businesses. However customers can be reluctant to sign up due to the sheer number of these schemes. Upside exists to unify these loyalty schemes with a single flexible reward app.
While retail reward platforms are nothing new, Upside functions more like a marketplace, linking participating businesses to potential customers. It also rewards customers with cash back on eligible purchases, a more flexible reward than is traditional in loyalty schemes. With over 50,000 businesses enrolled and 30 million app users, Upside has grown into a major player in this sector.
Having secured investments in a 2022 round of equity funding, Upside expanded into mobile payments, growing its value to over $1.5 billion. Upside is moving to scale its operations by hiring additional talent and forming new partnerships with brands and businesses. As growing inflation impacts the cost of living, Upside's product will likely be increasingly appreciated by consumers and businesses who depend on their custom.
