What the job involves
- We’re seeking Technical Writing Interns to join our diverse and highly technical documentation team responsible for developing and maintaining user-facing content for the entire MongoDB product suite
- Our mission is to empower developers and administrators to use MongoDB products with confidence and efficiency through world-class technical documentation. As an intern, you’ll play a meaningful role from day one
- Your work will directly reach a global audience of 800,000 readers every month. Join one of the most influential and innovative teams at MongoDB, where your contributions will help shape the experience of developers around the world
- Our interns learn and explain complex technical topics, working closely with product and engineering teams to document features across the database, distributed systems, client libraries, lexical and vector search, REST APIs, backup and recovery processes, deployment configuration, enterprise security, performance, and performance optimization
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, English, or a related technical or writing-focused field
- Have a minimum of one quarter/semester remaining in university studies after the internship concludes. Graduation date in Fall 2026 or Spring 2027
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex topics clearly and accurately
- A critical thinker who enjoys analyzing technical information and is comfortable receiving and incorporating feedback
- Familiarity with at least one high-level programming language such as JavaScript, Java, Python, C++, Go, or Swift (or a comparable alternative)
- Experience interacting with and using a database, using APIs, scripting, and working in the command line
- Previous experience in technical writing (blogs, publications) or open-source contributions (Linux) is a plus
- Applicants are encouraged, but not required, to share any writing or code samples that represent your technical writing style and skills
- Must be authorized to work in Ireland and provide the Company with copies of all relevant documents, if requested. Company sponsorship may be available for eligible candidates applying for certain roles
- MongoDB internships are full-time (40 hours/week) for 10 consecutive weeks lasting from dates in June until August. All interns are considered hybrid employees, designated the "in office" working model and are expected to be in their office location 3-5 days a week
