Role
Who you are
- The ideal candidate has the ability to translate business data into digestible information, and can take charge on a project while continuing to deliver on day-to-day deliverables
- Prior experience working with, and detailed understanding of, syndicated databases preferred (IRI, VIP, Nielson)
- Prior experience working with and detailed administration of a Business Intelligence platform preferred (Domo, Tableau); SQL experience a plus
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Minimum of 3-5 years progressive business experience with CPG and/or analytical experience preferred
- Prior experience in positions requiring strong analytical acumen coupled with written and verbal communication to senior level executives
- Experience working with and understanding ERP systems preferred
- Comfort working in situations with ambiguity and/or with fluid parameters
- Detail-oriented, analytical, and inquisitive
What the job involves
- The Business Analyst will be a pivotal member of the Finance team; providing analytical support to drive action and superior business performance in a fast-paced role
- This position will integrate and analyze data from various sources to form a point of view and share insightful recommendations with leadership
- The Business Analyst will also work with cross-functional teams to problem solve and identify solutions to business opportunities
- This role spans three key areas:
- 1) Business partnering: serving as a liaison between key department clients and Finance to provide counsel and guidance on performance related issues/initiatives and to share information
- 2) Project management: planning, executing, and deploying research projects, including defining the objective, building a comprehensive work plan, and coordinating vendor support as applicable
- 3) Business engagement: collaborating with all departments and improving business acumen
- Mine and synthesize multiple sources of data (macro, trends, competitor; category takeaway; internal forecasts across channels) and tell the story of what is happening in and around our Sparkling and Spiked business
- Present clear and compelling analyses and recommendations that drive problem or opportunity identification. Consistently delivering quality work on commitments
- Interpret, evaluate, and interrelate data, developing integrated business analyses and projections to incorporate into strategic decision-making
- Develop an expertise and understanding of the Sparkling Water and Hard Seltzer category
- Deliver monthly reporting and insights across several business domains including consumer, customer, competitor, and market performance via database management and/or synthesizing multiple datasets
- Work across departments to analyze and understand the business and category performance drivers
- Conduct and coordinate financial, product, market, operational and related research to support strategic and long term business planning
- Complete ad hoc business analysis and reporting for senior management
- Understand and communicate the financial and operational impact of any changes
- Collaborate with Finance and Sales leaders to analyze business performance metrics and identify opportunities and optimization
- Support marketing and innovation teams with ad hoc analysis and deep dives, forming clear, actionable data driven insights to help drive business decisions
- Determine solutions to business opportunities and put into motion the right course of action to win
- Demonstrate leadership and be a consulting partner to business unit directors
- Improve current workflow by studying current practices and designing modifications
- Lead syndicated data analysis, including monthly reporting packages for Sparkling and Spiked business leaders
- Identify and schedule project deliverables, milestones, and required tasks
- Proactively communicate key learnings from data analysis and actions with internal stakeholders
- Manage small to medium-sized internal systems/application development projects within assigned areas from inception to successful implementation
- Update analysis summaries on a cadenced basis for business managers
- Responsibilities will fluctuate between regular, planned activities (60%) and ad hoc analysis (40%)
Our take
Sparkling water drinks that are flavored with fruit juices present themselves to many as healthy alternatives to sodas, but the ingredients that go into them are often not reflective of this assumption. The fruit juices used are often packed with added sugar, sourced from genetically modified fruit on industrial farms, and are overall far less healthy and sustainable beverages than consumers realize.
Spindrift produces sparkling water drinks flavored with fruit juices, focusing on ensuring that its products are as healthy, natural, and sustainable as possible. As people become more concerned with the ingredients their favorite beverages contain, an increasing number of natural soft drink brands with no added sugar present significant competition for Spindrift.
Regardless, the company demonstrates a strong position in the market by focusing its brand on being sourced from and benefitting family-run farms that use natural, organic, and non-GMO ingredients. With a new and experienced beverage market CEO appointed in 2024 and Gryphon Investors buying a majority stake in the company in 2025, Spindrift has bolstered itself for future growth.
