What the job involves

Day-to-day, you'll be the lynchpin in bringing our brand to life through digital channels
From continuously evolving the impact that our brand identity has on our digital product to supporting our creative team to bring our brand to life in marketing campaigns
You'll be tasked with bringing what makes Laka unique to life in every digital interaction
On this journey, you will be supported and report to our Senior Product Designer
Develop and refine our product’s visual identity across mobile and desktop
Collaborate on building and maintaining our component library to ensure consistency across our digital products
Transform user flows and prototypes into polished, high-fidelity UI designs with a focus on intuitive interaction and usability
Work hand-in-hand with product managers and tech leads to align design decisions with user needs and technical capabilities,
Partner with creative and go-to-market teams to conceptualise and execute digital designs for creative campaigns across social media, email, and other channels, ensuring an integrated and seamless customer experience
Incorporate user feedback and usability testing insights to continuously iterate and improve our digital experiences

Our take

Unlike the typical insurance models, Laka's model requires customers to only pay for the true cost of cover. At the end of each month, the cost of any claims is split fairly between customers, with the individual’s maximum premium capped at the market rate.

If there is no claim, the premium that month is zero. Laka is already much-better aligned with customers, because of the fact that fewer claims mean lower costs for the entire Laka customer base. Laka makes money by adding 25% when a claim is made, so the company doesn't make money unless they're adding value.

The company effectively offers a profit share to its customers, encouraging improved behaviour as they stand to benefit from taking better care. The test for Laka to build a huge business will be moving this model out of bike insurance and into other verticals - particularly e-mobility, which it hopes to do with its new funding chest.
