Role
Who you are
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Communication, Computer Science, or a related field
- Experience with curriculum development, training development, training and educational tools and materials development
- 5+ years of experience in technical writing, preferably in the Hardware or technology industry
- Proven ability to create clear, concise, and well-structured documentation for complex technical topics
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and PowerPoint
- Proficiency with GitHub source control and using Markdown for creating documentation
- Experience with documentation tools and software (e.g., MadCap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker, Confluence) is a plus
- Familiarity with AI and ML concepts and technologies, or a strong interest in learning about them
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Technical Writer to join our Hardware Design Team
- The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of computing hardware systems and the ability to effectively document complex technical concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences
- They should have experience creating comprehensive technical documentation, developing user guides, and producing impactful material for presentations
- A knowledge of computer science concepts and, specifically, computing hardware systems is essential, and a solid grasp of ASIC and SOC architectures is preferred
- Additional interest in AI and ML concepts is highly desirable, enabling the creation of precise, structured documentation for our cutting-edge hardware solutions
What the job involves
- Develop, write, and maintain high-quality software-focused technical documentation, including Microarchitecture specifications, developer guides, system architecture overviews, high level architecture and performance specifications, Integration Guides, and Customer Reference manuals.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Sales, and other Customer support teams to develop Product Requirement documents., training materials and curriculum to support product education and user adoption
- Help develop high quality hardware implementation collateral to support test and manufacturing tools and flows
- Create engaging and informative presentations to support internal and external communications based on team driven feedback and requirements
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and subject matter experts to gather information and understand technical concepts
- Translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and accurate content that is easily understood by various audiences
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, particularly in AI and ML, to ensure documentation remains relevant and accurate
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of documentation processes and standards

Our take
Advances in artificial intelligence apps, combined with a global chip shortage, are strong tailwinds for chip processor Tenstorrent. The semi-conducter developer is designing specialized chips for running artificial intelligence applications, building chips for what it calls "software 2.0".
The company’s unique approach is to build for this future software, which it believes will be written at a higher level. Combining this with conditional computing, Tenstorrent supports a scalable distributed network approach that is analogous to a human brain.
While the market for specialised AI hardware is destined to be gigantic, the company has to compete with a plethora of hopeful startups (as well as major tech companies like NVIDIA and Qualcomm). That said, Tenstorrent boasts an excellent trajectory so far, with its latest moves including unveiling its high-end Wormhole AI processors, and a partnership with LG which will see the development of chips for "Affectionate Intelligence".
