Zenly's mission is to connect social media with the real world by using location sharing, creating a social map for digitally connecting with friends and family.
Location services are used in almost every social network in order to provide personalized ads, recommend nearby events and locations, and connect users with local people. However, despite several attempts in the past, social media platforms designed specifically around location tracking features for the user have been unsuccessful.
Zenly develops a social media application for smartphones that uses location services to track users and their friends, presenting each person and their location within a virtual map. The virtual map can be used to help friends meet up when they are nearby, keep groups together, and coordinate community activities.
Companies such as Foursquare have in the past attempted to develop social media platforms based exclusively around location services, but these efforts were not met with much success due to privacy concerns and a lack of use cases. Zenly on the other hand has approached the idea of social mapping from the perspective of helping friend groups and communities stay connected, whilst presenting the platform in the form of an eye-catching augmented reality world map.
