Who you are
- We are looking for a highly committed, energetic, proficient, and reliable individual
- Someone who enjoys interacting with people and shows a can do and hands on attitude when working with all stakeholders
- Minimum 3-5 years of product experience, (preferably in the insurance industry), and a degree from an academic institution in computer science, natural or data sciences, or economics would be preferred
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills with the ability to conceptualise and generalise individual requirements towards scalable generic solutions
- A good understanding of service driven architecture and product management processes, including Agile methodologies
- Ability to understand and conceptualise processes and document these into flow diagrams
What the job involves
- We are looking for a Product Owner who will help steer the work of our teams developing Envelop services for our various BPM platforms
- Managing the backlogs of up to six development teams and subsequent projects, facilitating the setting of objectives and milestones to ensure optimum deliverability of the objectives
- Conducting meetings/workshops with stakeholders to document requirements and objectives by breaking down concepts into manageable achievable steps and prioritising the backlog based on various business factors
- Determine the priority of items in the product backlog, considering their business value, cost, technical feasibility, and resource availability
- Working across the company and engaging with all business units, you will foster good working relationships with data scientists, engineers, underwriters, and management to ensure a high deliverability and quality work streams
- Frequently working with other Product Owners, Engineers, and domain experts, you will analyse, understand, and solution complex business requirements to develop innovative and impactful proposals that will provide better software solutions for our Underwriters and potentially other areas of the business
- Develop a deep understanding of the business processes and data being ingested, processed, and enriched by the various teams whose development you steer where applicable
- Establish and nurture trusted relationships, maintaining regular communication with key stakeholders
- Perform user acceptance testing to verify that the product aligns with the requirements and meets stakeholder expectations
Our take
Even though well over $12 billion in venture funding is being poured into cyber security companies annually – a number that’s still rising – it remains crucial that insurance underwriters are on hand should breaches occur, especially in light of the ever more sophisticated nature of attacks.
Envelop specialises in just that. The company offers insurance and reinsurance solutions by combining AI and cyber security analytics, which it combines with first hand industry intelligence. CEO Jonathan Spry is a former NatWest and Guy Carpenter executive, while COO Paul Guthrie was previously CSO at quantum computing and AI company QxBranch.
It’s safe to say that Envelop has grown promisingly, having underwritten well over $250 million of business since 2018. Now with major investment from SoftBank, the company is eyeing up a global expansion, as well as a move into adjacent areas of corporate risk.
