Our take
For urgent home services like plumbing and heating repairs, finding the right person at the right time for the job can be difficult. This was a problem personally faced by the founder of OSCAR, who navigated a myriad of websites and technicians for a broken water heater, and none of them turned up. Using intelligent algorithms, the OSCAR platform helps customers find professionals available within 30 minutes and automatically anticipates challenges during the service and hiring process.
Though rent-a-service platforms are a dime a dozen, OSCAR stands out from the crowd due to its focus on efficiency, ease of use, job-tracking and fixed rates for services. It’s ultimately becoming a one-stop shop for everything from repairs to home cleaning and laundry to rat deinfestation. The platform is currently available across Spain and Portugal and has become the most popular domestic services app in Portugal, a testament to its successful customer journey design and seamless algorithmic matchmaking.
With several rounds of funding behind it, OSCAR is growing its platform and availability across Europe. This objective will be accelerated by the VC awarded in 2024.
