Who you are
- Proficient in SQL; Intermediate experience with programming in Python
- Adept in at least one visualization tool such as Tableau
- Understanding of B2C app metrics and KPIs, performance monitoring, and insights
- Demonstrated experience with some or all of the following: data mining, optimization, experimental design, computational analytics, econometric modeling
- 2+ years of work experience in data analytics or data science roles
- BS in Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Economics, or other quantitative field; Master's, MBA, or PhD preferred

- Zynga’s Data Science and Analytics team uses our unique and expansive data to model and predict user behavior, making our games more personalized and more fun to play! We continually strive to better understand our players and provide them with experiences that surprise and delight
- Here’s where you would come in: A successful candidate will be passionate about analytics and data science and ability to impact game performance through customer-centric, data-driven initiatives
- As a member of the Central Analytics team, you will have the opportunity to build end-to-end, scalable data-driven solutions to generate impactful insights and work on exciting, large-scale projects
- You will collaborate with Product Managers, Game Analysts, and Engineers to deliver business impact
- Work with large amounts of data to find opportunities to improve the experience that Zynga provides to its players
- Use our modern tech stack, Redshift, Databricks and PySpark, DBT, Airflow, and Tableau to develop innovative tools
- Analyze performance metrics to provide statistical insights that support data-driven decision-making
- Build and maintain centralized data assets
- Develop clear narratives from data using visualization tools such as Tableau
- Work closely with game teams and product managers to craft, test, verify, and implement end-to-end data pipelines that ingest data from multiple sources and output meaningful insights to optimize Zynga audience growth
Our take
Zynga is a games developer that rode Facebook's platform to success back in the late noughties and early 2010's. It is now one of the biggest casual game producers globally, with a presence across 175 countries and regions and over 80 million monthly active users.
Though the company hit a number of roadblocks after its initial success - such as falling stock prices, and numerous calls it was copying other games - its subsequent resurgence is proof of its staying power. It continues to use social media as a distribution channel, and boasts titles such as FarmVille, Merge Dragons! and Words With Friends.
Future success will lie in the company's continued investment in building viral games that people love. It will also need to attune to the social media waves and keep track of where users can be found, as the landscape has become more mobile. Notable recent activity includes a collaboration with BBC Earth ahead of 2024's Earth day, and grant to develop actionable push notifications that enable gameplay without entering the application.
