Role
Who you are
- 6+ years of software engineering experience with interest in working as a generalist across backend and frontend boundaries
- 4+ years of experience with Node.js or similar backend technology
- 1+ years of experience contributing to frontend or user-facing features on any platform (mobile preferred), or strong interest in building that skill
- Flexible software engineer who thrives on owning projects end-to-end, learning new technologies, and building innovative and impactful solutions
- Proven ability to effectively leverage AI tooling for development workflows, debugging, and accelerated learning
- Experience building and integrating backend services, APIs, and data pipelines into user-facing products
- Team player who is comfortable working with both technical and non-technical partners across different departments
- Bonus (not required): Experience working with deployed CV/ML models
What the job involves
- As a Senior Software Engineer on GameChanger's Computer Vision team, you'll own the end-to-end delivery of software systems that integrate computer vision capabilities into user-facing experiences
- This includes primarily building and evolving backend infrastructure, with opportunities to extend these capabilities into our product across frontend platforms
- You'll partner with engineers, designers, and product managers to build innovative GameChanger features incorporating the latest CV models
- You'll join a team shaping the future of automated highlights, video analysis, and other game-changing experiences for millions of youth sports teams
- You will report to the Engineering Manager for the CV Applications team
- Own the design, development, and operation of large-scale APIs, data pipelines, and event-driven systems that power a wide range of CV-based features
- Design and own schemas and queries to handle high-traffic, data-intensive workloads
- Contribute to frontend integrations (Android, iOS, web) to extend backend-powered CV features into user-facing experiences
- Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Design, and QA partners to deliver scalable, reliable platform experiences
- Integrate computer vision-powered features into production systems with attention to performance, maintainability, scalability, and platform fit
Our take
The competitive nature of sports has always been driven by scorekeeping, and nowadays results are often consumed online. However, for smaller teams it can be difficult to provide this information digitally, as they do not have dedicated web development staff.
GameChanger provides a scorekeeping and statistics platform for sports teams to engage with their fans, that allows viewers to track the progress of a game in real-time similar to with professional sports. The company also embeds a live-streaming service into the platform to facilitate remote viewing, helping to increase audience engagement.
Whilst some sports teams already stream events on platforms such as Twitch and YouTube, most do not have the technical resources to achieve this. GameChanger has recognised this gap in the market, providing a simple yet unified platform for sports scoreboards and streaming, providing a fair opportunity for any team to maximise their community engagement.
