Who you are
- An experienced head of department / senior manager within a small finance and administration department of a conveyancing firm, regulated by the CLC or the SRA
- Essential relevant professional qualifications including a Pass on the CLC Managing Client and Office Accounts Unit or a Pass on the SRA Solicitors Accounts Unit (Level 6)
- Enjoy working in a demanding role requiring excellent communication and management skills, a high degree of attention to detail as well as the ability to appreciate and take into account a wider view of the business operations
- Capable of managing multiple responsibilities and able to deliver to strict deadlines
- Effective and easy communication style, able to relate to a wide range of people
- Proven experience of working effectively with non-finance staff and ability to interpret and clearly explain financial data to them
- Strong operational capabilities and influencing skills and able to contribute effectively to strategy as part of the management team
- Open to new ideas and should be excited to help Generation Home drive change in the conveyancing industry
What the job involves
- Managing all the day to day financial administration and the payroll activities of the business as well as ensuring all internal and external statutory and CLC accounting and reporting functions are fulfilled and delivered on time
- Document, implement and operate financial controls as necessary and appropriate to the business size and complexity
- Monitor and review the effectiveness of financial controls to ensure that they remain appropriate at all times
- Ensure all invoices are raised promptly and accurately and that appropriate credit control procedures are in place to ensure prompt payment of overdue bills / debts
- Ensure relevant accounting reconciliations are carried out on a regular basis
- Preparing budgets as requested or required, as well as the annual budget
- Monitor and manage cash flows to the office account
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legal, accounting and financial legislation and with all regulations and guidelines set by our regulator the CLC
- Foster and embed a culture of knowledge and best practice with a focus on driving service improvement for the team and for our clients
- Manage an appropriately staffed team and ensure hiring plans are kept up to date
- Comply with the business policies and operational processes / procedures and ensure the conveyancing team understand and adhere the relevant accounting policies and operational processes / procedure in place
- Maintain strong working relationships with our bank, auditors and relevant stakeholders within the Generation Home Group
- Have a general financial management overview for any centrally provided resources, such as HR, IT or marketing services
- Work with the Head of Conveyancing and the wider conveyancing team to ensure timely completion of client conveyancing matters
- Assist the Head of Legal in the overall strategic financial and operational development of the business
- Report to the Head of Legal Practice on a weekly / monthly basis as per the agreed reporting plan to ensure that there is consistency and compliance within the business

Gen H can also incorporate "investors" into users mortgage. These can be friends or family who can help out financially, providing a system to pay them back with interest on their investment. There is no shortage of potential users for the platform, and so the company has the real chance to expand its operations moving forwards.
