Role
Who you are
- 5+ years experience building Android applications in a production environment using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose
- Familiarity with Coroutines and Room, and experience designing or consuming REST or GraphQL APIs
- Solid Android fundamentals (architecture patterns, performance, testing) and a track record of shipping features end-to-end
- A product-focused mindset; you work with the team to solve real business problems, not just execute tickets
- Interest or willingness to grow into server-side and web front-end work as your scope expands
What the job involves
- We’re looking for a Senior Android Engineer to join our Trust & Safety engineering team
- This team is responsible for developing the Trust & Safety platform at Strava, fostering a trustworthy environment and a safe experience for our users
- As a Senior Android Engineer, you will collaborate with cross-functional partners to design, develop, and optimize features that impact millions of users worldwide
- You will help shape the future of our mobile experience and contribute to the evolution of Strava’s product
- Own Android on the Trust & Safety team, setting the technical direction and shipping features that reach millions of athletes
- Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and back-end/iOS engineers to build solutions like abuse reporting, privacy controls, and the U18 experience
- Work alongside a close community of peers in a hybrid work environment
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and set the bar for Android quality across the company
- Use the latest AI tools to find faster, smarter ways to build and ship software
- Grow into back-end and front-end work over time as your scope on the team expands

It offers both a free and premium subscription service, and also partners with local councils and urban planners who purchase its journey data to map out cities and develop safer cycle paths.
