Who you are
- 3-5 years of experience in sales/account management
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills regardless of channel (in person, phone, email, cross-team)
- Languages: Fluent in German and English
- Expertise: Nurture strategic relationships with top sellers and demonstrate a deep understanding of the company and the sellers' needs
- Strategic Perspective: Possess a strategic mindset to drive growth and excellence in the marketplace
- Negotiation Skills: Skilled in negotiation to secure profitable deals and partnerships
- Autonomy and Organisation: Work autonomously, demonstrating excellent organisational skills
- Passion for Collectables: Display a genuine passion for collectables or perhaps have a collection yourself, allowing you to understand the language of our sellers
- Travel: Open to regular travel to meet top sellers in Germany
- Tech Skills: Capable of using Google tools (sheet, slides) and analysing and interpreting data; experience with HubSpot is a plus
What the job involves
- Catawiki Collectables is seeking an experienced Key Account Manager to accelerate growth in the DACH market (Germany, Austria & Switzerland)
- You’ll lead the growth and development of our DACH seller portfolio, applying your skills in Account Management, Commercial Acumen, and Analytical Thinking to deliver tangible business impact
- You’ll analyse data to uncover trends, opportunities, and challenges, then translate those insights into actionable strategies
- Using performance metrics, you’ll track progress, identify growth opportunities, and negotiate commercial terms that ensure long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships
- A key part of your success will come from building strong relationships with internal stakeholders like Category Managers, Experts, and your peers within the sales team
- By working as one team, you’ll combine commercial insights with category expertise, enabling you to provide sellers with the best possible advice on how to grow their business on Catawiki
- This close collaboration is essential to align on priorities, share knowledge, and develop creative, tailored strategies that deliver sustainable growth for both sellers and Catawiki

- Each Account Manager is responsible for their territory and categories and makes sure to lead the strategy and success of the sellers

- We work closely as a team, sharing learnings/success stories and coming up with new ideas

- Seller Development: Develop deep knowledge of sellers' needs and educate them on fulfilling key performance indicators (KPIs) such as reserve price optimization and adherence to quality guidelines
- Strategic Planning: Establish medium and long-term strategic growth plans for our assigned sellers, aligning closely with Category Managers and Experts
- Communication: Regularly present progress updates to Collectables management and peers, we ensure transparent communication on the performance of our accounts
- Collaboration: Partner with experts to accelerate the growth of sellers, we accelerate profitable growth and foster lasting relationships with our sellers through various communication channels, including phone calls, face-to-face meetings, email, and participation in fairs
- Leadership: Lead commercial strategies within your territory in collaboration with the experts. Set up sales meetings with experts and sellers and lead the conversations to produce meaningful action items that make an impact
- Business Reviews: Conduct regular business reviews where commercial processes, main KPIs and data are explained and translated into actionable insights
- Customer Experience: Educate sellers on driving a positive customer experience to buyers, ensuring a seamless transaction process
- Innovation: Translate new opportunities into commercial actions that contribute to the continuous growth and success of Catawiki
Our take
In the past, it was only possible to purchase special items such as rare coins, antiques, and vintage cars at auctions held at physical locations. These days, many people prefer online auctions, but whilst they provide a wider range of objects for sale, this comes at the cost of proper pricing and quality control. Catawiki provides an expert-regulated online auctioning marketplace where users can browse and bid for special objects easily via the web or mobile app.
The objects listed on Catawiki are curated, valued, and verified by in-house experts, with over 65,000 objects passing through the marketplace every week. In this approach, the company has combined the community knowledge found at traditional auctions with the benefits of digital auctioning platforms, occupying a space that has long remained empty, and avoiding competition from bidding marketplace giants such as eBay.
Catawiki has received good funding in the past, which contributed to it becoming the success it is today. A recent venture has seen the company expand to serve artisanal artists with its handmade products auction series.
