Who you are

You have at least 5 years of production experience building scalable products. Passionate about architecture best practices, and collaboration with UX designers to implement a great product
You are experienced with backend development concepts (Java / Spring) such as domain modeling, API design, SQL, and performance. You have the ability to work lower down the stack if needed
You have production experience in building web frameworks using Spring Boot
You show a willingness to be hands on and contribute to the other layers on the platform (e.g backend or infrastructure)
You have good judgement in making tradeoffs to balance short-term business needs with medium to long-term technical quality
You demonstrate a strong problem-solving mindset and the ability to work autonomously with a sense of ownership
You have excellent written & verbal communication skills in English and the ability to work well within a team and with teams across the engineering organization

What the job involves

As our Backend Software Engineer (Java/Spring) you will be responsible for developing and improving our existing platform, and not shy away from contributing to frontend tasks when needed
You will be working closely with UX and product to influence the solution design with your expertise
Mentor engineers in best practices for developing great products
Pair program with and mentor other engineers in developing their technical and collaboration skills
Foster a culture of technical quality and operational excellence within the Engineering Department
Be hands-on in designing and improving our product and platform
Stay updated with the latest technologies and trends and innovate your team and department with your ideas
