What the job involves
- Vanta’s Infrastructure & Security team provides a platform that powers the scalability, performance, and reliability of Vanta’s core systems
- As our customer base continues to grow rapidly, we need infrastructure that scales with us without compromising speed or developer productivity
- You’ll work on distributed systems, infrastructure primitives, and security enhancements that enable our engineers to ship reliable software at scale
- This team has a wide breadth of impact across all of product engineering
- Our work touches every corner of product engineering and compounds in value; we make it easier for engineers to diagnose bugs, build features, and deliver value to customers quickly and safely
- Vanta engineers design and develop new product functionality and infrastructure leveraging modern frameworks and tooling, including TypeScript, React, Node.js, MongoDB, Github Actions, and various AWS services such as Fargate and ECS
- Design and build scalable infrastructure to support rapid growth in data volume, service usage, and engineering velocity
- Lead projects across our cloud infrastructure, including container orchestration (e.g., AWS Fargate, ECS), monitoring and alerting systems, networking, and database maintenance
- Implement and maintain core security infrastructure and controls including, service-to-service authentication, secrets management, application security primitives (e.g., rate-limiting, encryption libraries, etc.), and infrastructure hardening
- Identify and solve complex scalability and performance challenges, particularly related to service reliability and data throughput
- Partner closely with Security Engineering to implement infrastructure that supports best-in-class security and compliance practices
- Drive infrastructure design reviews and provide technical guidance on architectural decisions and trade-offs
- Work with talented and kind engineers to make a significant impact on our customer base, enabling them to improve their security and prove it
- Contribute to building Vanta’s engineering culture as we grow

The security auditing process is usually very time-consuming, taking hours to complete, and it is often difficult for startups to invest time into such a process. Yet, the benefits of security accreditation are enormous, mainly as many such businesses are working globally and need ways to demonstrate security compliance to one another. Vanta works specifically with startups to help them complete and pass security audits such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001.
The company is a compliance portal and security monitoring platform that businesses use to assess their risk levels. Vanta carries out a pre-audit of a company's digital security and highlights areas that need to be worked on before a full analysis of all threats is carried out. Other businesses such as Datadog or PagerDuty offer similar security monitoring services, but Vanta monitors its customers throughout the year, allowing any issues to be identified and addressed early on.
