Role
Who you are
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field like Finance, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in data analysis, data science, revenue analytics, or a related quantitative role, preferably within a finance, fintech, and/or SaaS environment
- A strong command of SQL and a modern data stack (e.g. dbt)
- A foundation in statistical analysis and data modeling techniques
- Proven track record of translating complex business questions into well-defined analytical projects and delivering actionable insights
- Rigorous communication and stakeholder management skills; capable of explaining quantitative concepts to non-technical audiences
- A meticulous, detail-oriented mindset with a passion for solving ambiguous problems
What the job involves
- We are seeking a sharp Senior Data Analyst to join our Data & ML team, supporting Finance
- This role is critical for driving Checkr’s financial strategy and operational efficiency
- You will be the go-to expert for building reliable data models / systems, rigorous analysis, and delivering data-driven recommendations that guide our financial planning and business performance evaluation
- By translating complex data into clear insights, you will have a direct impact on Checkr's profitability and long-term financial health
- As a Senior Data Analyst, you will partner closely with leaders in Strategic Finance, Accounting, Product, Revops, and Engineering to tackle complex business problems
- You will own core revenue and cost data models / reporting, drive pricing and pricing / package analysis, and bring quantitative rigor to our most important financial decisions (e.g. planning, deals, large renewals)
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Develop and maintain core financial data models / reporting to track revenue, costs, and key business metrics; your work will be a cornerstone of our financial planning and analysis (FP&A) process and routine Exec debate and decision making
- Business Performance Insights: Conduct deep-dive analyses into business trends, unit economics, and pricing strategies to identify opportunities for growth and efficiency improvements
- Data Modeling & Pipelines: Design, build, and maintain data models and pipelines in our business intelligence stack to ensure accurate and timely data for financial analysis
- Data-Driven Strategy: Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Finance leadership to inform business strategy, product pricing, and operational investments with robust data insights
- Operationalize Analytics: Build and automate reporting that provides continuous insights to the business, empowering stakeholders with self-serve data
Our take
Checkr addresses the unpleasant and time consuming process of background checks so that companies using on-demand employees can make safer, more informed hiring decisions in less time. Background checks are a critical part of the hiring process, and CEO Daniel Yannisse noticed that they were painfully slow, resulting in loss of work for candidates and productivity downturns for employers.
Before Checkr entered the market in 2014 with its innovative AI technology and a solid $50m in venture capital funding, companies were waiting upwards of two weeks for their checks. Checkr substantially reduces this time frame and has grown to receive a $5 billion valuation.
Checkr has accelerated growth by making several highly advantageous acquisitions of competitor companies GoodHire and Inflection. As the world of work embraces diversity and inclusion, the company announced an end-to-end service for candidates wishing to expunge their criminal records, furthering the company’s ‘fair chance’ mission and clearing 1000s of candidates for free since 2021. New products launched at the end of 2023 include Checkr Pay (providing access to payment right after a shift) and Checkr Onboard (unified onboarding processes), exemplifying how Checkr is keeping pace with a rapidly changing, flexible, and mobile-first workforce.
