Who you are
- Strong experience in both Go-lang and PHP (Laravel) development, with a deep understanding of their respective concepts and best practices
- Familiarity with microservices architecture and experience in building microservices-based systems
- Proficiency in designing and maintaining databases, including MySQL and MongoDB
- Experience with Docker for containerization and deployment of microservices
- Knowledge of AWS services for building and deploying microservices in a cloud-based environment
- Strong expertise in CI/CD processes, including automated build, test, and deployment pipelines
- Proficient in using Git for version control
- Familiarity with other relevant technologies such as PHP 8 (8.0, 8.1, and/or 8.2) and CI/CD tools
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in an agile-based environment
- Passionate about staying updated with the latest technologies and continuously improving the technology stack
What the job involves
- We are seeking an experienced Senior Backend Engineer with expertise in PHP (Laravel) and Go-Lang to join our innovative team at the early stages of conceptualising and building a brand-new SaaS product for the parking industry
- This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of our product by developing it using microservices and event driven architecture from the ground up
- You will be part of a dynamic, cross-functional team that includes software engineers, product managers, and quality assurance engineers
- Our team is dedicated to creating cutting-edge solutions for the parking industry, and we value collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and design, develop, and implement microservices using Go-lang, and PHP (Laravel)
- Write unit and integration tests using TDD best practices to ensure the reliability and stability of the codebase
- Optimise and maintain databases, including MySQL and MongoDB, for efficient performance
- Work with Docker to deploy and manage microservices in a scalable and containerised environment
- Utilise AWS services for building and deploying microservices in a cloud-based environment
- Participate in CI/CD processes, including automated build, test, and deployment pipelines, to ensure smooth and efficient software delivery
- Implement monitoring and alerting systems to ensure the health, performance, and reliability of microservices, promptly identifying and addressing any issues that arise
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for microservices, APIs, and system architecture to facilitate effective communication and collaboration within the team and ensure smooth onboarding of new team members
- Use Git for version control and collaborate with other team members to ensure effective code management
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies, and proactively suggest improvements to our technology stack
- Demonstrate a collaborative mindset and a willingness to engage in open communication, actively participating in team discussions and contributing to a positive, inclusive work culture
- Engage in a culture of innovation by actively seeking out new technologies, tools, and methodologies that can improve our product and processes, and by encouraging creative problem-solving and experimentation within the team
- Show a proactive attitude towards learning and professional development, embracing feedback and continuously seeking ways to improve both personally and within the team
- Ensure adherence to security best practices and standards in all aspects of development, from coding to deployment, to protect user data and system integrity
- Maintain high standards of code quality through code reviews, pair programming, and the implementation of best practices and design patterns

By using YourParkingSpace, space owners can monetise this under-utilised resource whilst commercial clients across hospitality, retail, and property can drive footfall and improve customer experience. The platform uses proprietary technology and live data analytics to deliver their intelligent parking solutions.
YourParkingSpace already markets over 350,000 bays in over 50 cities in the UK, including private space providers and operators such as Tesco, Morrisons, and Premier Inn. It now serves 1 million drivers in the UK.
The company has benefited from shifts in behaviour caused by COVID-19, with returning workers increasingly choosing to drive over taking public transport. In addition, with large space owners suffering from declining footfall driven by the shift to online shopping and commerce, this trend is encouraging them to assess ways to optimise their parking estates. YourParkingSpace’s 2022 acquisition by urban mobility company Flowbird will allow them to improve their technology and integrate into Flowbird's 80-city-plus network.
