Who you are
- A strong candidate for this role is a skilled programmer who can provision and debug disparate systems regardless of initial familiarity. We do not require a specific tenure with any technology, but we expect enough proficiency to explore and use them independently:
- Cloud Infrastructure - GCP preferred; AWS or Azure experience is transferable
- Infrastructure as Code
- Kubernetes
- Python
- CI/CD system management
- Observability systems - Datadog and/or OpenTelemetry preferred
- TypeScript and/or Golang - beneficial but less critical

What the job involves
- As a Lead Infrastructure Engineer at Pipe, you will support the growth and maintenance of our cloud infrastructure - including GCP, Kubernetes, Postgres, and Pulumi
- Your work will set the foundations that enable fast, autonomous work across every engineering team
- You will collaborate with our Backend Engineering, Security, Data, and IT teams to ensure our infrastructure is reliable, scalable, and secure
- The infrastructure team is a core part of the software engineering org
- Our infrastructure is defined as code and has a hand in the stability of every codebase at Pipe
- This is a small, dedicated team - success here requires problem-solving with a technically diverse mindset
- Design and implement scalable, reliable cloud infrastructure solutions for business-critical applications and services
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure infrastructure meets their requirements and is easy to use
- Maintain a strong security posture through close collaboration with the security team to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
- Monitor and troubleshoot infrastructure issues and drive timely resolution
- Automate infrastructure deployment and management processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual work
- Participate in on-call rotation to support critical infrastructure issues
