Junior Management Accountant, what3words

• We are looking for a Junior Management Accountant to join our team
• This role will suit someone with 2+ years’ experience working in a finance team
• A-level qualifications + Degree (ideally finance related) / AAT / Bookkeeping certificate
• 2+ years experience in a similar role
• Experience using Xero and small business Xero add-ons
• Fully literate with MS Office, particularly Excel
• Highly professional in approach, honest, discreet and responsible with financial information
• A confident “can-do” attitude, able to work at pace, turn your hand to new things whilst maintaining attention to detail
• Excited to contribute to the creation of a vibrant company in a new sector

Desirable

• You will work closely with our part-time bookkeeper, Senior Management Accountant and Finance Director to keep the Company’s day-to-day accounts organised, assist with management accounts and be a respected Finance team point of contact, both internally and externally
• You will be a key part of the month end process, responsible for maintaining prepayment and accruals schedules, posting journals plus assisting with the production of the monthly management accounts
• Outside of the month-end cycle you will own the purchase ledger, including overseeing the bookkeeper to ensure all invoices are reconciled to approved amounts and processed on a timely basis, reviewing employee expenses and company expense cards (Pleo) as well as management of the asset registers
• Work with the bookkeeper to ensure invoices from suppliers received into the Company’s accounts email inbox are processed accurately and coded to the correct general ledger items, filing all invoices and uploading to Xero through Receipt Bank
• Processing ad hoc expense claims through Expensify
• Working alongside the bookkeeper to set up weekly supplier and expense payments through online banking and ensuring approvals are made in advance of bank cut-off times
• You will also set up payments to consultants in many different countries through various payment sites such as Transferwise
• Ensuring that spending is in line with Company policies and flagging any areas of concern to other members of the Finance team
• Running regular Aged Payables reports to ensure that invoices are not overdue
• Multi-currency bank and credit card reconciliations and involvement in managing banking relationships
• Handling Pleo (our corporate payment card system) and being the key contact for new credit card requests
• Also undertaking regular reviews of payment limits and card owners to ensure relevant
• Raising sales invoices and monitoring Accounts Receivable to ensure timely cash collection
• Identification and monthly posting of prepayments and accruals
• Management of all asset schedules and posting depreciation/amortisation journals
• Preparation of quarterly VAT returns
• Short term cash flow forecasting
• Assisting with the year end audit, including collating information, answering queries and connecting auditors with relevant people across the Company
• Ad hoc Company projects – previous examples include competitor analysis, carbon offsetting and procurement process review
• You will need a keen eye for detail and a willingness to get involved in lots of different tasks
• Connecting you with all the different departments of the Company
• You will be required to support the rest of the finance team with ad hoc tasks and completion of requests for information, particularly during the annual audit or fundraising rounds
