Role
Who you are
- 10–15+ years of progressive HR experience, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role (e.g., Head of People, HR Director) and 5+ years in a People Business Partner capacity
- Proven ability to advise executive leadership, influence board-level decision-making, and lead Compensation Committee discussions
- Experience in fast-paced, high-growth environments—preferably within startups or scaling companies
- Experience with managing in-house HR programs, including employee benefits, HR policies, and HRIS (Workday preferred)
- Knowledge of job architecture, market data analysis, and total rewards strategy, including salary benchmarking and equity incentives (stock options, RSUs)
- Expertise across core HR domains, including organizational design, total rewards, employee relations, learning and development, and performance management
- Strong business acumen and a hands-on approach, with the ability to translate strategic goals into effective people practices and policies
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence, with a reputation for building trust across all levels of the organization
- Demonstrated ability to coach leaders, build high-performing teams, and foster a culture of feedback and accountability
- Sound judgment and a thoughtful approach to balancing business risk and employee impact
- Experience managing complex projects and leading through change in dynamic environments
- Skilled communicator and problem solver, with a strong track record of using data and insights to drive action
- Experience working with stand alone HR
What the job involves
- We’re looking for a culture-first, hands-on Vice President of HR to lead our People function and help shape the employee experience as we grow
- In this high-impact role, you’ll be a champion of our values, a builder of inclusive, engaging people programs, and a strategic partner to senior leadership
- You’ll drive initiatives that strengthen connection, foster belonging, and support talent at every level - while also leading our people operations, total rewards, and performance practices
- As a visible and trusted presence across the company, you’ll build strong relationships, support managers and employees alike, and ensure our people strategies evolve with the needs of our mission-driven team
- As part of our team, your core responsibilities will be:
- Act as a strategic advisor and thought partner to senior and executive leadership , translating business priorities into impactful people strategies and managing both simple & complex employee matters
- Lead and actively contribute to all core HR functions - including compensation, benefits, HR operations, HR programs, and talent management
- Develop and evolve a comprehensive people strategy that aligns business objectives with culture-building efforts which includes designing and scaling programs that strengthen culture, support employee development, enhance engagement, and thoughtfully consider the employee experience in alignment with the company’s mission and values
- Design and manage competitive compensation and benefits programs that attract and retain talent while aligning with fiscal and organizational goals
- Partner with the business to drive organizational design and workforce planning efforts that enable scale, clarify structure, and support evolving business needs
- Own the full performance management cycle, including goal setting, feedback, talent reviews, succession planning, and employee development
- Oversee HR compliance, policies, and employee practices to ensure alignment with legal requirements, company values, and evolving workforce needs
- Work cross-functionally to deliver cohesive and scalable HR solutions
- Manage and mentor a small, high-impact operational People team, fostering growth, ownership, and continuous improvement in a dynamic environment
- Performs other related duties as required by position
Our take
Ultrasound machines are invaluable tools for clinicians, but these setups remain inaccessible to many. This is due to existing machines relying on quartz-powered transducers and other specialized components, resulting in a very large size and an expensive price tag.
Butterfly Network builds innovative, inexpensive, and compact ultrasound technology in order to increase access to clinics across the U.S. The device is around the same size as an electric razor, a design made possible by storing the ultrasound technology on a chip as opposed to a semi-conductor.
Whilst the company has not innovated the ultrasound process itself, Butterfly Network has found a unique gap in the market by providing inexpensive and easy-to-use access to the many clinics that could benefit from having an ultrasound machine. The device is available for under $2,000, but software designed for easy access and interpretation of ultrasound imagery comes at an additional monthly cost.
The company has also launched its very own AI marketplace called ''Butterfly Garden'' where medical device companies, virtual care companies, and AI developers can access Butterfly's software development kit. This will enable them to build new applications that reach Butterfly's prominent installed base.
