Who you are

Please note that this is a fixed-term contract role for an initial period of 6 months
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
Solid understanding of data architecture, data modeling, and data processing
Understanding of databases: SQL/NoSQL, DB design, and optimization
Strong programming skills in languages such as .NET, Python, Java or equivalent
Familiarity with data privacy and protection guidelines
Experience in a startup or Agile development environment
Certifications in AWS, Power BI, or related fields

Desirable

Prior experience in a similar role, where the business has both customer analytics and internal business intelligence data needs
Experience with integrating business tools such as Netsuite / Salesforce into S3/Glue/Athena
Experience in building our architectures which derive insights that drive key product and business decisions

What the job involves

Has built up substantial experience with AWS data services, particularly S3, Glue, and Athena
Is familiar with building and refining large-scale data architectures and dealing with data-related technologies and challenges
Is interested in working with cutting-edge data tools and practices and exploring opportunities for optimization and efficiency
Can guide the system design and implementation to enable data-driven insights in both internal facing Business Intelligence tools such as Power BI and refining our own customer facing Roomex Analytics product
Can work effectively with an emerging data analyst function which is on a journey to derive consistent and accessible insights for the business data
Understands data privacy and protection guidelines and best practice
Has worked in an Agile development environment, focusing on continual delivery, iterative development, and a high level of collaboration
Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills in fluent English
We use AWS services (S3, Glue, Athena), Power BI, .NET, Python, and various SQL/NoSQL databases
Our data architecture is established in an AWS environment
Our Roomex Analytics product aggregates data from internal SQL/NoSQL databases, internal microservice APIs and product partners in the travel technology ecosystem, presenting reporting and insights to customers for their travel

Our take

Roomex’s travel booking and spend management helps companies and their employees easily book accommodation and manage their expenses. As well as its booking platform, the company has also launched a mobile app and debit card for employees to gain more visibility of their work-travel spend.

Despite the shift to remote working and digital meetings, the Business Travel market is still expected to grow significantly over the next half decade, putting Roomex in an opportune position. The company has grown steadily at home in Ireland and the UK since its foundation in 2004, and has gained custom from the likes of Mitsubishi, Dairygold, Kepak, and Müller, highlighting the attractiveness of its proposition.

Roomex was acquired by FLEETCOR, a US spend management company in 2022. With Roomex's footprint already visible in Germany and the US, it will further benefit from FLEETCOR's network with the intention of expanding its product and accelerating sales and growth.
