Our take
The creative results of NFTs can vary, but one truth within the industry is that owning one presents verifiable authenticity of ownership over an object or art piece. Verisart has been working within blockchain since 2015 and mints, certifies, and connects artists and their works via the use of NFTs on their platform.
The Verisart platform has been a key player in the identity shift surrounding NFTs and by association, cryptocurrency. Aiming to empower creatives and create a decentralized art market is honorable, but with ongoing tumult in the crypto market, it’s unclear whether art-focused NFTs will retain their value and prominence as a mark of authenticity.
Nevertheless, Verisart and its film producer co-founder Bradford L. Schlei have had a lot of success in the last few years. Since its launch, Verisart has helped eBay adopt blockchain, curated Artsy - an art brokerage’s - first NFTs, and has been valued at between $10 and 15 million. As an early adopter of blockchain technology for verification in the art world, Verisart still garners respect from the industry, regardless of its future.
