Who you are
- Prior FP&A experience at a high growth technology company or in investment banking, management consulting, venture capital, private equity, and/or transaction advisory roles working with technology companies
- Ability to influence business partners and provide recommendations in order to drive decision-making and execution
- Experience developing and improving processes with desire to inspire change across the org
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills; must also be proficient using G-Suite
- Strong communication skills (written, verbal & presentation) with the ability to understand and communicate difficult concepts
- Excellent financial modeling and analysis skills
- Ability to work quickly and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining a high level of precision and attention to detail
- Demonstrated an extraordinary work ethic
- A highly motivated team player and experience with people management
- Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, including ASC-606
What the job involves
- In this high-profile role you will work with executive business partners to help drive strategic decision-making, provide financial insight, and build operational rigor and efficiency
- You will help guide the financial planning, forecasting, and reporting for these teams and provide recommendations to your business partners within these key functional areas
- You will also be responsible for key financial deliverables and ad hoc analyses and help to define the processes by which we scale and grow these teams
- Partner with Sales leaders to drive strategic top-line and expense initiatives; provide insights into their business units through monthly BVAs and regular check-ins
- Collaborate with Sales and Finance leaders to develop both short-term and long-term policies to drive growth and efficiency while delivering a high return on investment
- Assist with and eventually take ownership of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting packages for key SaaS metrics (LTV, CAC, NRR, etc.) and Sales KPIs (headcount, quota capacity, bookings, etc.)
- Identify and lead initiatives to continuously improve, automate, and scale forecasting and reporting tools, processes, and methodologies
- Help improve existing sales capacity models to support long range planning & bookings growth
- Provide analytical support and thought leadership for ad-hoc projects to assess potential deals, partnerships, and sales investments as needed
Our take
Confluent is a commercial company built on top of the open-source Apache Kafka project. Confluent and Kafka have developed a streaming data technology that processes massive amounts of information in real-time. The streaming database technology was developed at LinkedIn as a way of moving massive amounts of messages. The company decided to open-source that tech in 2011, and Confluent launched as the commercial arm in 2014.
While the base open-source component remains available for free download, it doesn’t include the additional tooling the company has built to make it easier for enterprises to use Kafka. Confluent's value add is in those additional tools, including a cloud version of the product and a marketplace for sharing extensions to the platform.
Confluent expanded strategic partnerships with Microsoft and acquired Immerok, and in 2023 expanded its cloud platform. 2024 saw further product expansions with the launch of the Confluent Migration Accelerator, all exemplifying how the company is living up to its name by rocket-boosting the benefits of Apache Kafka integration for companies.
Now, it looks like IBM is eyeing the company for acquisition and Confluent looks to be a natural fit. Long positioned as the real-time backbone behind modern application, Confluent would gain global scale and an even deeper enterprise reach under iBM, while cementing its role at the center of AI-driven architectures. For COnfluent, the deal would marka shift from fast-growing independent disruptor to foundational infrastructure player powering the next wave of enterprise AI.
