What the job involves
- Honeycomb's Signals team owns the awareness portfolio of features, from triggers and alerts to service level objectives. The Signals team provides the interface customers need to understand the health of their business through observability, whether that need is immediate or an indicator over time. They build and maintain a diverse array of entry points and are responsible for shaping what’s next in surfacing the most relevant insights at the right times
- Own the strategy, roadmap, execution, and outcomes for the entire signals portfolio with a focus on Service Level Objectives, Alerts, and Anomaly Detection. We offer the best in class solution for SLOs and a primary challenge for this role will be maintaining that differentiation
- Drive product discovery in close partnership with a UX designer, engineering manager, and tech lead—identifying high-impact problems and iterating on solutions
- Deeply understand developer needs around practicing observability and the ways in which they want to surface alerting
- Work cross-functionally with engineering, design, and go-to-market teams to ensure customer feedback, business context, and technical constraints shape the product
- Engage directly with users through interviews, research, and usability testing to inform prioritization and guide product decisions
- Advocate for the developer experience, ensuring that performance data is actionable, discoverable, and deeply useful to software development teams
Our take
Traditional processes of debugging apps and IT services are becoming obsolete due to the mass adoption of cloud-based tools. However, whilst cloud-based development presents a modern and unified solution to application building, frameworks for troubleshooting such services are not currently something many businesses are prepared for.
Honeycomb provides troubleshooting tools that allow cloud-based software developers to observe code on API tools, live applications, and microservices. The troubleshooting dashboard is designed to be highly visual and user-friendly, thus allowing developers to diagnose cloud-based problems without having a deep understanding of computer science.
The company is building on its 2022 momentum after achieving another consecutive year of 2x revenue growth, driving 160% net revenue retention for its 600+ customers around the globe. Series D awarded in 2023 will be channelled into geographical expansion and supporting its products. Honeycomb’s approach is unique as it is facilitating the harmonious deployment of cloud-based debugging tools in a landscape where such services are essential yet difficult to understand.
